One of the defining moments in the early history of Christianity was the abolition of the requirement of converts to become Jews first and get circumcised before becoming Christians. It's a defining moment because at that point Christianity ceased being a Jewish sect and became a religion unto itself.

I debate this with myself probably a few times a month. Christianity has "evolved" so many times since it was created by jews that it almost reminds me of how georgian/caucus region "muslims" were only pretending to be muslims so they didn't get massacred by the invading force. likewise europeans didn't want to get massacred so they did the song and dance of christianity when the romans came along and then sprinkled on their own indigenous traditions as a compromise. so i don't fucking know is the fucking answer. i do know this- jews hate christians, they hate the messages of truth and love, because ultimately that is in opposition to their messages of lies and hate. so maybe don't "become a christian" but do know that love and truth are powerful so long as you remember who your people are and what those two things really mean (it doesn't mean importing somalians).
