Depends on how long I'm in prison. Anything up to five years, I'll just do my time and keep to myself, get into a couple of fights in my first week and people will leave me alone. Anything over five is pushing it, and no one serves ten or more, and lives, unless they join a gang.
And I mean actual time served, I did three years out of a seven year sentence, did the remaining four years on parole, so it's got to be guaranteed that I'm going away for a long time. Three years in that environment was enough to put me out of touch with the real world, decades behind bars and you're never the same. I was able to get my shit together, but most people when they go away for a really long time, never really come back, no matter what they did to survive.
Anyways I got into a couple of fights right away, got my ass kicked but made it clear I'm not easy, and pretty much was left alone after that. Looked the other way during a stabbing, refused to say who did it or what happened, spent a month in the hole, and nobody fucked with me after that and that gang hooked me up with smokes time to time.
Ten years and I'm getting ink and a shaved head.

Be cool, don't talk about your case, NEVER accept gifts and never start shit but don't hesitate to fight a stupid asshole that does. It's 101% with a 1% chance of doubt to lose every fight than submit once.

From what I saw, they really only want people who are going to be in for a while. Longer you're in, the less you have to lose, the more you're comfortable with doing in exchange for extra ramen packs, cigarettes and snack cakes. I knew I had a life to go back to, so I had standards still and used my time to get better. But every beat down and murder in prison is paid for with those things. A man will get murdered for a couple of honey buns. If you're going to be there for a long time, those honey buns are all you have.

Honestly, if the food was the same, and I had the same access to the canteen, it would've been better. You should be able to achieve this after 3 months with a decent routine if you'd never worked out before.

In college they sent us to prison for a day for a visit, all I did was answer questions from every guy I talked to. Plus, if I have access to my money outside, I would even make it cozy in there.
But still, it scares the shit out of me. It was a pretty shitty place, and everyone there looked like the guy nobody sits next to on the bus.

From what I have see, if you don't have extrordinary social skills and are a universally likable person (everyone on Yas Forums fails this condition), the only way to survive in real prison would be to join a gang, and even then, weakness simply is not tolerated. Minding your own business is not good enough, you WILL be targeted, and you MUST be strong when it happens. If you ever display weakness, you're dead. End of story. Having said that, you need to also know when to throw down and when to humble yourself to defuse a situation. If some powerful gang leader bumps into you in the hallway, it probably would be wise to attack the guy. Might want to humbly back down if he allows it. So, it's a balancing act revolving around knowing when to act and when to back off.
