Hospitals are designed to run at maximum occupancy. They have as many supplies, staff, beds, and equipment as they estimate they will need for regular business. Even a 100% increase in capacity would cause shortages.

FATAL cases of respiratory infections overwhelmingly kill older people, in a literally perfect correlation...
SO when you are old and unhealthy, maybe even hospitalized for other conditions.. respiratory infections are one of the ways you die.
(coronaviruses as a sub category of viral respiratory infections have always existed, by the way... 14-20% of viral resp infections are of the coronavirus type (pre covid-19))

IF SOMEONE DIES OF COVID-19, they are no longer around to be able to die of something else.
