Retarded grocery store workers haven't realized the leverage they have. The unions could have everything they ever dreamed of and thensome if they acted now.
But they won't, since they are dumb and work in a grocery store
I make over 500 a week and work third shift. This pandemic might as well not be happening since I never have to deal with a single customer. Things are super comfy right now. Not gonna lie.
What unions?
>still literal brain dead entry level work
Basic ppe and sanitary practices they should have already been practicing doesn’t deserve a raise. Funny because now they are all crying about working full time and most where I live quit or were replaced with Mexicans
The grocery workers in my area are working for overtime.
>thinking you have leverage in an unskilled job that any teenager can do off the street with 10 minute of training
already asking for an extra 5 an hour cause we're essential
though, personally, 30 an hour is fine by me
I work on a farm so I keep going being paid in cash as well as getting the wage subsidy kek at grocerystorecucks
>wow an extra $100 in my check, totally worth the risk!
> millions of people just got fired and laid off and want your job, thus you get no raise, in fact you'll probably get fired and replaced by someone at a lower rate
Because there's a shit ton of people who were laid off and would take those jobs in a second.
at least in cali, it seems like they do. 2 bucks more.
>grocery store workers don’t shop at grocery stores
The virus is bringing light to the awful working conditions wagies live through and how utterly necessary their jobs are for the amount of pay they get.
I used to say fuck you to raising the minimum wage, but now I firmly believe minimum wage should at very least be a living wage that can also cover cost of healthcare.
now convince those around you.
may as well be a 50 cent raise anywhere else
What the he’ll is your wage? The average grocery worker in my city probably makes 11hr starting. Let’s assume that most of the staff has been working long enough to make 13hr. That would probably net over $200 per week added from time and a half, so roughly $400 added to your biweekly check.
Fuck retail.
Basically this
Now is an excellent time for those working in food and transportation to demand a raise. If they refuse, simply call out until they beg you to come in. Grocery stores are bleeding employees currently, due to mostly hiring the old and disabled; many are either getting sick, or quitting/taking extended vacations as to practice self-isolation. Every time I’ve gone to the store recently it was packed, yet only one, maybe two cashiers. With this in mind, if you’re an Essential Business Employee and you don’t walk away from this with more money or time off, you’re doing it wrong.
It’s almost like a lot of the policies Democrats and Sanders have been pushing for years would have worked in benefit right now.
Captain Hindsight.
>people who shop at grocery stores spend a comparable amount of time within their walls as the people working there
>I'm going to expose myself to thousands of people during a global wide pandemic
>and even though I'm working overtime
>I still can't afford rent
peoples nets arent going to be $200 lmao have you ever worked overtime? Anything past 4-5 hours is basically worthless. the taxes fuck you hard.
lets say they work 48 hours at $11 an hour. with overtime that's a gross of $572. After taxes you're looking at $450. Down south that's nice as fuck. Anywhere else, like NY or CA, ya know, where the epidemic is the worst, you can't pay rent
imagine having to trudge through a pandemic to finally be able to afford rent for once
Kys brainlet
I'm the guy you're replying to. Democrats are equally as corrupt. Also, Sanders is an awful choice.
But the minimum wage was originally designed to do just that, provide a living wage. We should go back to that.
I said that they are currently being paid time and a half for every hour worked. Also I don’t live in New York City.
GOTTA KEEP YOUR LOCAL WALLSHART STOCKED WITH BEANS NIGGER
If it’s your job then yeah, you do.
I want to start working at one. Nobody is hiring. I need money
You do if there's no one roaming the streets do to a pandemic. Imagine if every grocery store worker teamed up right now. It would be a nightmare for the Jews who owned the place.
I will eat my own hat if you could find a single republican who is in support of raising the minimum wage to a living wage.
Grocery store wagie here - my company is refusing to provide PPE or practice social distancing because it upsets the customers. There are like 2000 cases in my city. The guys I work with are third worlders for the most part and don't care/don't understand the whole situation. They just compulsively buy toilet paper.
Who is Charlie Baker
working your everyday job having crazy shit happen breaks the monotony if you like what you do money isn't everything being on the front line of this bullshit would be fun if your in the right mind set also you can see your fellow wagies true colors and people come together naturally.
I work at ????? 7 out of 20 people left for different reasons. I don't blame them but it's crazy whos loyal to you who is not who you can be depending on who you can't. It's a real test of human nature i know things now a lot of fucks i did not like and thought the same stepped up i am shocked and pissed but happy some times i forget. People are people
>arbitrary metric for catching a virus
Nope. Unions told us now is not the time to ask for anything (including basic safety measures like masks or limiting people in the store) because we are in a time of need. Even though literally none of the population gives a shit and treats the lockdown like a holiday and just come hang out at the shops with their friends or buy mounds of booze and junk food for parties.
Minimum wage never really achieved living wage status but it was sooooo fucking strong for such a long time that anyone make 10-20% above it could own a home
If minimum wage stayed inline with inflation AND production we would be looking at a $20+ minimum wage across all 50 states.
the federal minimum is currently $7.25 and has been for 10 whole years. its incredibly sad. when workers at the bottom earn more, the middle of the road workers get bumps too. nobody is going to be a paramedic for $16 an hour when they can bag groceries $12.
>most of the country newly unemployed
>thinks no one would work
I barely work with customers. If I get it, it will be from co-workers. The amount of migrant workers that just roll up coofing and shivering...
amazon is hiring, doordash, uber eats, instacart
even if the virus where to disapear tomorrow It is going to be a whole new world
Also there is no leverage. We literally have dozens of guys, lots with serious work skills like air freight guys etc, coming in asking for jobs. Like non stop.
Turns out having no money is a bigger fear than the virus for them.
Bitch I don’t have a job
I live off you tax paying wagies lol
WAGIE IN HIS CAGIE SOON TO BE DEAD LIKE AN ABORTED BABY
HAHAHSFDASHASSGGHAHAHA
Because there are millions of illegals who will do those jobs for less and are entirely replaceable since ICE will ICE them if they cry about it
Or are not cut-throat Jews like our congress.
I agree, but my comment was due to my not understanding why you would say “grocery store workers don’t shop at grocery stores”. I understand you’re saying they do in fact shop at grocery stores, and therefore the extra $100 earned by the worker was acquired without extra risk. My counter-point is that there was indeed extra risk, as the worker has spent at least 40hrs/wk in an enclosed space with coofers abound, whereas the normal shopper spends maybe 1hr/wk. The window for infection is much smaller, and therefore more controllable via preventative measures.
What if I told you that entry level work doesn't necessarily have to mean "shitty pay"? The boomer mentality that only fat fuck 60yo managers should be well paid is cancer and quite obviously designed by the boomers to extract max profits for themselves while fucking their kids and grandkids out of a livable wage.
>unions
Grocery stores are not unionized.
If they tried to they would all be fired on the spot.
It's completely legal.
Amazon I'd like to work for, been looking for something close by. I don't want a driving job though, I kind of hate driving. What's going to be different with the world after this? People keep saying that, but I'm not sure what they mean.
As soon as this blows over, they’ll be out the door, and you’ll have wasted a considerable amount of time and resources in interviewing, hiring, and training someone, only to have them jump ship in 6mos due to being overqualified as fuck.
kek, true and checked
based burger
homeless people living with no wage... that's your living wage.
just be careful if you get an Amazon job. Your manhood will be tested, so if you have no balls you better get some.
Good eye, guess we all missed that get. Also, checked.
They are giving raises and such to the their workers, their unions were pushing for it and most grocery store workers are union.
Maybe not in burgerland
Why do you say that?
I could be making almost 20hr here in tennessee which is way more than enough to be comfy...so i dunno. Sadly the people in my old store dont stand up for themselves. Idk why low skill wagies take shit like dumbasses.
Yeah $0.85 raises lol. I once took a shit at a grocery store and it didn't flush and the fuckers didn't even have a plunger by the toilet so I just walked out. I wonder who had to deal with that and what they were thinking.
>Unions
Have to be 18 to post here, kiddo.
Well Amazon warehouses are the new warehouses full of big burly men. So when you walk in you better be able to hold your own and let it be known that you'll fight to the death if needed.
I’m a delivery driver and am not complaining one bit. These empty roads are a heaven sent.
who do you deliver for
I'm big enough I think. Not the biggest but I should manage. Why the fighting though?
Amazon serves a retarded amount of orders every day. Whether you’re driving for them, working the warehouse, or working the phones, you’ll be driven like a slave to put out more units per hour(KPI) for their precious metrics. Every time you break your record for orders picked in a day(easily 800-1200), you’ll be expected to maintain it as the new norm.
Retail user here.
People love their routine because it gives them a semblance of normality, so they never even think about the leverage. For some it's a sense of responsibility or being part of the team.
Also our government is pulling weird shit to get cheap workers (extending civilian service, making uni students harvest vegetables for credits etc).
It's like people think it's perfectly fine to not get paid for their work under the pretense of muh duty.
I always found entry level to mean
>trained relatively quickly
>4/5 people are capable of learning the job
>easily replaceable
I was a GM at a small business for a few years. It took me a year to learn the basics, the ins and outs, basically everything under the sun. It took another 6 month to learn how to manage. BUT it only takes 4 or so months to learn the fundamentals.
so because
>4/5 people can learn the job
>can be trained within 6 months to do it proficiently
>and the job market sucked
I wasn't worth a goddamn thing besides a buck or two above minimum wage yet my OUTPUT was managing 6 other employees while the business grossed $600k+ a year
>burly men
Bro I think you mean s0yb0ys, neckbeards, weaboos, and recovering NEETs. The closest thing to burly you’re going to find is the truck drivers, but they’re fresh off the boat, 35, and starving.
Just walk in with an aura of you're not to be fucked with and you'll be just fine. Also is correct. nice trips. So they will attempt to work you into the ground, sucking the testosterone right out of you so when you're beat tired your managers can come up on you and belittle you and boss you around. That's the way of the world. Either get to the top or find another job.
Grubhub
It is state by state retard. In Minnesota most are unionized.
I have to finish my onboarding shit, thanks for the reminder.
>either get to the top or find another job
100% based. Don’t ever let yourself get comfortable- if you’re not gaining rungs anymore, you need to jump to a different ladder.
I need legal help.
Grocery store is not paying me "hazard pay" because I was sick from the 15-22 March and did not work from then.. But I did today. Wiping down carts. With peroxide. Goddamn Bristol Farms, it is bad enough with the rich entitled fucking adult-children.. I was sick and also scared to go in due to the virus and did not call in. Human Resources called me and asked why, I was honest. Today was my first day back in a week and a half.
Anyway. They are trying to stiff me even though I have been working since October. Only those who "worked from 15-22nd are eligible" but this virus is still fucking going on. What do I say when I call H.R tomorrow???
>if you’re not gaining rungs anymore, you need to jump to a different ladder.
based
My dad worked for a Petro Canada, delivering fuel to heat the homes of us Canadiens, my mom works at a local hospital, works in the Nutrition department making food for patients. Both have been working while us neets benefit from them working. My Dad had a heart attack today at work and died all alone while me and my brother sat at home, and my mom working away from her husband. A grim fate for my father, working his life for my mom and 2 brothers. The pain my family is going through, I need to vent it, anyone who has ever talked shit about wagies is pure scum. Doing your minor part in society for the benefit of everyone else is all a human can do in their time, and you will be remembered if you work a lifetime to help others. I guarantee when my dads clients find out that the guy who heated their homes for 30+ years died on the job, they are going to think about him more than any fucking neet scum who does nothing but leech of of the work of others. Took a while to type this useless 4 chan post but RIP Doug known to me as dad, hope I get digits in your honor
If it makes any difference, they raised our salaries to like the equivalent of 16$ an hour and we get fully paid isolation sick days(like 4 weeks) in the grocery store I work in.
Also I live in a shithole part of the country so tha t kinda money really gets you far.
>250 a week
I just made 150 ChainLink, 90 Tezos, 1 Ethereum, and $340 this evening just by swing trading. I couldn't imagine working for that much in a week.
Mind you I wipe them down in the front of the store, retrieve the carts, spray and wipe them fast as a fucking machine - and tell whiny Customers they can't bring their own bags in the store due to cross-contamination policies - they literally begin to berate me or ignore me it's like bitch if SHTF... i would love to smack some sense into you.
A lot of folks are completely decent and thanked me for my job... But some of those entitled people are fucking trash.
You don’t need legal help, as you do not meet their criteria, however, I suspect that new hires will receive hazard pay. My advice to you is to tell HR you’ll be taking your raise or they can shove it up their ass. Giving 2 weeks is optional- at the end of the 2 weeks, their site to meet your demands as to keep you on, but backpay is questionable. I would quit in the spot if they don’t accept my demand, then simply re-apply online, then come talk to the supervisor in a couple days. He’ll contact HR and you’ll be back on the clock for tomorrow’s opening shift.
rip to your dad but i feel like this is going to be copypasta soon
You gonna man up and take his place
I would probably threaten to report the store because peroxide is NOT an effective sterilizer. If anything use a spray bottle of sani-quad from the deli if you have one. Peroxide is also toxic if ingested.
Condolences brother, and RIP Doug. I hope he wasn’t driving a tanker truck when he died, or that he didn’t take another life with him unintentionally.
F
Nope. Didn't work like that.
Bristol Farms is only in California but it caters to the literal top % rich fucks.
Some stores gave employees $2 raise (woopee) meanwhile every employee at my store got $88 for that period of 15-22nd March.
Also. Will not quit. Laid off/fired is much better.
what sort of capital do you work with on average to make those gains?
Do it man this is the best time ever to be a delivery driver. Literally the conditions are set up for us to make a shitload of cash. To go only + empty roads = $$$$$$$
No it's multisurface cleaner with peroxide. Not JUST peroxide. It's LabCo shit. For Inspectors.

I just wanted to share, I got hired on as a FedEx driver today
yep I couldn't agree more
I'm curious. How is it being a fedex driver? Hopefully maybe someone can chime in. Like is it go go go all the time or are you able to take a piss if you have to?
The art of quitting without really quitting as a means to gain leverage is one that requires much finesse to master. Worst case scenario, you can tough it out and start applying elsewhere. If you’ve been there longer than 6 months, you should be able to move to a new company and gain a better title; probably a meaningless one like “shift lead”, which pays only $0.75 more and requires double the work, but that’s the foundation of a successful career.
Dude the unions will say anything to get another day of shekels, I quit my semi comfy job after having HR downplay the situation
You're a piece of shit, your dad probably khs because of the embarrassment you brought on your family. RIP faggot, at least he won't have to deal with you worthless neets anymore.
yep he's right. Take that experience somewhere else and work up that fuckin ladder
Kek fresh copypasta alongside stale OC
