The problem I see is it'll come back in the fall. Do we just do this again or do they expedite the vaccine process so much that they can roll it out on a limited "Old/vulnerable populations only" scale? I have a buddy who's working in general care at the moment (bless him), and he said that he's worried about the next season, too. Purely in terms of logistics, it'll take time to get a vaccine formulated, trial'd, created, and distributed. I don't know if there's even an existing "war-time" law that'd allow us to push vaccine production through FDA.
I can definitely see it being anywhere from 4-12 weeks from today, but between the sheer impact the quarantine/stay in place is having on the general population and with Trump starting to use things like the Defense Production Act, I'm hoping it's within the 4-6. Or maybe I just want to fucking leave the house again... one of those.
It'll depend on how the "big" international players decide to deal with Chinese trade. If they decide to fuck over China, it would complete change the global economy. With 40% of China's GPD coming form the US alone, I have no idea what they'd do if we sanctioned 'em to the ground.
It's interesting to me, though, that there's already been a noticeable shift in attitude towards the Chinese as a whole (or at least within my circles). Second, test everyone now. If positive, quarantine those persons. Treat if symptoms.

By the end of April things will have peaked, and by early May we will see decline.
Things will be back to normal in June with only 10,000-20,000 total deaths, less than the normal flu.
We will see covid 19 return in October/November but we won't freak out about it like we did this time. And we won't shut down businesses then either.
It will end up be a seasonal outbreak that we have to deal with until we get a vaccine or treatment, which will take at least 2 to 3 years to develop.

The US made one fatal flaw that fucked up everything since. The testing kit shortage. To be clear, the CDC started at the same time Germany did and made at least 150,000 by early feb, but all of them were defective. Since then, an ungodly amount of red tape severely delayed the speed of reproduction and we are still since then playing catch up.
