Hex based wargames like Avalon hill or GMT ones, always WW2 ones. I play them onine via Vassal (open source Java based boardgame engine). I'd recommend it for anyone who likes grand strategy games.

Yeah I'm thinking about getting my wife to try savage worlds or basic fantasy rpg (b/x clone with ascending AC). Shes a very logical and efficient gamer though, I'm sure she'd treat it like a card game or sudoku puzzle and wonder wtf you'd waste time exploring or interacting with npc's rather than constantly accomplishing goals

highly reccomend the dark alleys and twisted pathways book for player options. I don't think its in the trove yet but the playtest documents are out there if you know where to look. It brings two of the beginer classes up to standard complexity and fleshes out all 13 standard classes with traditional options from older editions, like spell schools for wizards or domains for clerics. Best monster manual math around though. feels like an edition from the future. addresses ancient problems like DMPCs, Skill monkeys, alignment and combat being rocket tag
