My theory: covid/corona symptoms is dry cough, this indicates that there is not enough phlegm etc. to remove diseased cells/harmful cells from the lungs.
Smokers may have lots of tar and tobacco smoke byproducts in their lungs: thus when they stop smoking when they get sick (only hardcore smokers keep smoking while having a fever) so their lungs start to clear up and the tar shit mucus also removes the disease same time versus the non-smoker virgin lung dry cough.

Lung disease is a major risk factor for the people actually dying of China virus. As are the cardiac diseases associated with smoking. So I imagine plenty of geriatric former smokers will be among the dead. I think the only reason you haven’t heard anything about it is simply because the number of infected and dead is still relatively small. We can’t trust the data supplied by the Chinese and the Italian population is hardly representative of populations with normal age distributions. Plus pasta bros are too fucking touchy-feely for their own good.
