Looked it up, they're squawking as EC-145s but have no N-numbers so that probably means they're military UH-72s like the one here and are based at Fort Rucker. (Which is visible on the OP's map if you look closely.) Realistically it's probably just some kind of training exercise and "Vamp" and "Bat" are some bored CO's idea of cool flight names.

Fort Rucker is there. NAS pensacola is about 2 hours south. Hurlburt Field (AFSOC) is about 3 hours south. 7th SFG is about 3 hours south.

Being from heavily surrounded military area, I have grown use to jets / helicopters / planes doing things on a daily basis.

Interesting call signs, but it's not rare to see multiple military aircraft around this general region.

A while ago I was in a planefag thread. Forget the occurrence but it was something to do with trying to track a suspicious plane. The one in question changed information several times mid flight.

I expected this.
This is the first really big event since drones have become extremely prevalent. This is the perfect opportunity to get the public used to constant drone surveillance. This, among other things is part of the reason for this "pandemic".

It makes perfect sense that they fly then at night first. I imagine they have been for quite some time. And now that they are proficient, they can start easing it into the pubic perception.
Give it five years and they'll be doing things like this in the middle of the day. And all the sheep won't mind a bit. Because right now they are being conditioned to the the idea. This information is out there and it will continue to become more known. The herd has to be conditioned to a change so that it isnt spooked.

So many changes are going to come from the "pandemic".

Buddy doesn't understand how ADS-B works if so, they're broadcasting their location and other info (type, alt, speed, direction) to anybody else with the equipment to pick it up. I'd see the same info on the Garmin in my Cessna if I were up in that area and once this is all over I'm gonna get a receiver that hooks to my iPad and shows the same stuff on ForeFlight as well. (Pic is how it'd look on the iPad, I think you could tap any arrow to get the info.)

Yeah its real easy to set up a receiver at home. You can pick up a cheep usb sdr, hook it up to an antenna, and load up the software and watch everything.
In the US you need two one for 1090mhz and the other for 978mhz.
If you really want to get fancy you can also set up other software radios to listen in to ACARS.
Or if you want to go full crazy you need a small satellite dish and you can listen to AERO from inmarsat

So that the ground drones have a mental map. If they alreay know where they're going, and the terrain, then they can dedicate processing power to other tasks.

Yes, to second this, this region of Alabama is somewhat known as a military aircraft zone, but Fort Rucker is the home of a major air cavalry division, so there wouldn't seem to be anything odd happening here.
