Learning C++ right now
I learned to hire codingfags for me.
t. Business management degree
if these 1.2k trumpbux actually gets into my possession i will
I'd just do python quite frankly. Better suited for business productivity needs. Or JS for web apps. No one cares about coding until you're coding to build a product to accomplish an actual business problem/problem set.
> Inb4 "python is bullshit" and "webdev chimp", Started in C and have MSc CompSci from near-Ivy
I learned to coooode, still can't find a fucking job. What's the trick?
Because you aren't good enough. If you were really good you'd crush job interviews and get tons of offers.
Working in HR is not business nerd
>business productivity needs
>python
Do you even code?
Are you hiring?
I know CSS and vbscript.
Before this job I wrote software for a three-letter.
>Mom
I have a 3.5 gpa and a math minor, near the top of my class most of the time, I don't even get called for interviews. I assume it;s because the king of Israel is flooding the market with streetshitters.
>near-Ivy
I found a job but it's a shit job that pays just over 50k in leafbucks. Yes I have over 4 years of experience doing this and a STEM degree.
I've come to the conclusion that working for someone else is bordering on cuckery.
This is true
k?
Tbh It's unironically the best way to describe it imho. Not a place you'd think of as Ivy but then once you see the rankings you'd be like "yeah that makes sense". Not tippy top but pretty good.
I'd kill for 50k, I have a degree but have to drive uber. The interest on my loans just keeps piling up.
good luck competing with indians and pakistanis slave labor
What school fag?
>be above average student (accelerated programs, etc)
>in college get all uppity and decide i don't want to be "an office drone"
>go into trades instead after graduating
>10 years later and can't stand the mind numbing work, literal retarded coworkers, and physical pain
>realized wasted potential to do nigger tier work, unironically learning to code now
p.s. fuck you Mike Rowe you colossal kike faggot
>for a three-letter
>insecure python scripts
Okay LARPer
man, indians really fuck every job don't they?
im a merchant Navy officer and can't get a job because everyone wants an indian or Philippino slave
>i do python
en.wikipedia.org
Yellow-badger.
Nobody cares about your minor, nor your GPA unless it's high (yours definitely is not). Most industries don't give a fuck about your schooling. Do you have a github? Have you built cool shit? Have you contributed to open source projects, built an app? Have you actually done anything with your life or have you just sat in and passed a few classes?
I'm head of data science and lead the hiring of our entire data team (including data science, data engineer, software engineers, analysts, etc), and I can tell you that the fact you think any of that matters shows me you aren't ready for industry.
***Sorry midwest
I know how to code and have a degree but my brain is addled by schizophrenia. I have lost the ability to decide what I want to work on so I do nothing.
Fuck that sucks. I dropped out of high school and learned to code, this was 8 years ago. I can get jobs all day long.
>last one in the west
It’s so shameful that he can’t just say what it is and makes us click a link and scroll all the way to the bottom of the page just to find out what it is
That’s even more shameful than if you had just stuck with what you said initially
Ignore this tard, vast majority of recruiters and interviewers aren't going to look at your github or give a shit if you contributed to open source (unless it's something widely used and impressive).
Also
>Washington University in St. Louis
>near-Ivy
I just wanna make vidya.
Seems like you never stop learning to code, there’s always someone who posted their code to a forum that is better than yours
FeelsBadMan
>Most industries don't give a fuck about your schooling. Do you have a github? Have you built cool shit? Have you contributed to open source projects, built an app? Have you actually done anything with your life or have you just sat in and passed a few classes
I'm not autistic, I don't code for recreation. I learned this boring shit to get a job.
>you aren't ready for industry.
>only top 1% literal geniuses and the 2-digit IQ pakis that they manage are ready for industry
Well, if actually learning how to code reasonably well as a regular white man is not sufficient to gain a middle class job in this globohomo system then something needs to give.
I know C++ and Java quite well but apparently nobody needs that shit. What skills would you recommend learning?
look up people on linkedin who at companies you want to work for and ask them to refer you. We get a fuckton of money for referals.
I'm not going to broadcast by name but if you care so much then that shouldn't matter. Helpful considering the link name as well.
Admit rate for class of 2024 was ~9% and the Average ACT is a 33. Idk what else you want me to tell you, it's literally well-known as one of the top Ivy-backups, hence "near Ivy".
>I'd just do python quite frankly.
This. You use Python if you just want to do something quickly, which is pretty much the purpose of 99 % of programming. C++ is what you use, if you want something that tends to run fast or if you're a Pajeet. For some reason, Indians write everything in C++. Which is fucking retarded.
Basically, if you want to solve a problem quickly, you use Python. If you want a solution with a GUI, you use Java. If you want a solution on a webpage, you use JavaScript. If you just want to learn how to program, just pick Python. The algorithms and the mindset are exactly the same anyway. No point in making it harder for yourself than it needs to be. And if you prefer a different paradigm entirely, you pick Haskell. If you want low level, you pick C. There's honestly very little reason to go with C++.
if you can learn to code in c++ then you can easily pick up python down the track.
god dammit this is so true.
>Indians write everything in C++.
I think you mean java.
Eastern euros write everything in C++.
Strong agree thank you.
For sure, for sure. I'm just saying in terms of churning something out to get employment.
My first programming experiences were with Warcraft III world editor. Perhaps you'd enjoy something like that. You could just start right away with Unity, but you'll probably lose interest very fast, if you have no previous experience. It's actually quite daunting and laborious to make a video game, even a simple one.
What about in server architecture / administration. Lots of jobs in that
you sound like one of those r/cscareerquestions faggots
>If you want a solution with a GUI, you use Java
>Being this out of touch
>I have a 3.5 gpa and a math minor, near the top of my class most of the time, I don't even get called for interviews.
Lol, I majored in math. When I interviewed for my code monkey job they asked me to provide a list of all of the CS courses I'd taken in university.
shit's fucked up at the entry-level.
I also only had 1 internship before graduating, whereas now it's become necessary to have 4-5 co-op internships. The university I attended only offered 1 PEY term, which is 1 very long internship, but was basically used as a code monkey the entire time and wasn't able to add anything useful to my resume.
Calm your tits, burger. You're probably going to be out of a job in a few months if not weeks.
I did. It's fucking useless.
Fuck off journobitch
On your own especially as you have to switch from code brain to art brain , to literary and storyline brain
JS is by far the most valuable language to learn right now. everyone wants to be useful on the web.
*blocks your career*
>I know C++ and Java quite well but apparently nobody needs that shit. What skills would you recommend learning?
everyone needs JS, you just have to convince them.
this is true, i only know that Linux is heavily involved in most of that stuff
>I learned to coooode, still can't find a fucking job. What's the trick?
If you cant get in on credentials alone you need a portfolio
linux admin here ,AMA
I work as a COBOL programmer. Picked up programming a few years ago because I couldn't decide on a career.
It took me almost 2 years to find a job. No one wants entry level programmers, that's how I ended up in cobol. Most companies would rather import workers from India and pretend there aren't qualified Americans to do well paying relatively easy programming work.
I had a degree with a math specialization too. It doesn't matter. I'm not going to insult Indians, I have nothing against them as individuals, but yeah, there's almost like a Indian mafia of large companies like cognizant that fills most entry level roles. Companies like to hire them because they look good on paper, no insurance or other benefits required. Most end up getting citizenship and fill coveted senior roles later in their careers. There's definitely not a shortage of programmers here in the US, the field is just flooded with H1Bs.
>yellow
kek they didn't give him blue
what a shady cuck
keep writing your gay little python scripts and JS while the real men are using ASP.NET Core and Angular 9 to engineer real, sustainable, scalable apps that belong in the 21st century
What's the badge color mean?
Python is fine there as well.
It's really not. Your server runs on top of the operating system, and most programmers have no need to know how the OS does what it does.
True
Unix is great. Seriously took a class on the underlying fundamentals and changed my view on OSs forever..
Yellow is five eyes foreign national. Blue is fed. Green is contractor.
C++ is still used quite often in video games
Every single recruiter worth their salt will look at github etc. Not to mention that the team lead/other coders can easily veto you in the hiring process.
I haven't been at a single software dev job where the actual hiring decisions weren't done by other software devs (or technical minded people), while HR just did the paperwork for that.
If the place lets some technically inept paper pusher make hiring decisions, it's probably a doomed shithole anyways and you wouldn't wanna work there.
(Australia being one of those)
I've actually learned a lot from taking a couple of Udemy courses on Unity. I really like Unity overall and am getting the hang of C#, although there's a lot of things I don't understand.
>I work as a COBOL programmer
I assume you maintain systems so old nobody actually know how it all works anymore? Working with legacy code becomes digital archeology when you work with languages from the 50's
>I know C++ and Java quite well but apparently nobody needs that shit
It depends on where you live
>I don't even get called for interviews
sounds like you are just getting unlucky user. Don't throw in the towel.
Indian coders are the best.
They write such garbage code they create at least 2 more jobs for real developers to clean their shit afterwards.
>It depends on where you live
rather, it depends on what area you are applying in.
