>SUCCESS AND FAILURE OF GERMAN AUTHORITIES
>GERMAN PANDEMIC PLAN
>1. containment Use contact tracing, testing and isolation of infected, to interrupt contact chains. German authorities were unable to interrupt the spread in the epicenter Heinsberg and failed to prevent the emergence of new clusters all over Germany.
>2. protection Ban visitors to hospitals and nursing homes to prevent spread to riskgroups. German authorities could not prevent the infection of riskgroups, as evident in the deaths in nursing homes and in the infections, that occured in hospitals. Overall, older agegroups have been infected way less, so partial success can be assumed.
>3. mitigation Keep critical cases within capacity of the health care system. Given the initial situation of the german health care system, this should be the easiest goal and german authorities did succeed for now.
>CONCLUSION On 13.03., german authorities had to concede, that containment had failed and slowing of the spread, to "flatten the curve" was now the only viable option. Allthough the average daily growth of new cases was reduced by ~10% since then, there is no continuous decrease in daily growth and will probably not occur until 28.03.. German authorities are buying and ordering production of ventilators to double IC capacity, acquiring medical supplies and preparing COVID-19 clinics.
On 25.03., 1000 IC patients have been reportet. Since a delay from infection to IC admission of aproximately 1 week was observed, up to 2000 more current cases will need iC in up to 1 week. The increase of IC cases will continue well into April and maybe even beyond. Only time will tell, weather measures taken will suffice and proper care for every case can really be provided.
>US now has practically the fastest corona growth out of any country >also has one of the highest rates of obesity in the world, a risk factor for COVID-19 severity >also has one of the worst healthcare systems in the west >all of them are going back to work in 2 weeks
Are you ready for the great burger cleansing, Yas Forums?
Better yet, are you ready for the riots that will ensue when people start dying on the street as the government fails them?
