You came short in every regard. They're ahead in many fields but their best asset is their alliance with the Russians. Every area Chinese don't excel is covered by the ruskies and viceversa. And the EU/NATO are both a joke. You can just see the amount of dick moves already taken due the pandemic.

It is not just a question of the virus.
First the factories have been moving out of China for some time now. Mostly relocating to south east asia and mexico.
Samsung was one of the major players who closed their last operation in China last year.
Then, last year Trump administration started putting wallstreet investments into China under scrutiny, putting further strain on the CCP's access to hard currency.
The CCP had allready clamped down hard on money transfers out of China around 2016, basically blocking all outgoing transactions.

It is very similar to how the CCCP went bankrupt in the 1980s.

Before we used to be pretty certain that China would become the next superpower rivaling only the US

However now shits all up in the air.
It's really hard to see how it will change after the pandemic. But there are some possibilities:

- The international community pulls out of China and focuses elsewhere for production. China's backup strategy would be to rely on the partnership build up with the countries in the New Silk Road mostly third world countries that are rich in resources. In this way China will seek to become self sufficient as they are beasically the colonizer in this context.
- Along with the CCP will ramp up it's already heavily prevalent anti-foreigner rhetoric in order to sway the people into keeping faith in them. The US will be the people's enemy in a way they've never been before. Basically like the way North Korea used to do.
- The USA and China will go into a new Cold War like they had with the USSR
-China will become very aggressive in the region and will probably invade Taiwan around 2030. The Party want to resolve all of their inconveniences by 2049 (100th anniversary), this means solving the Taiwan issue.

If this really was a leaked bio engineered virus, we will never know.

When USA is surpassed by China, Shlomo loses. Shlomo is not a magical god, he's going to be usurped by Chang.

Fun fact: 1981/82 the Reagan administration decided to lower the oil prices to undercut the soviet exports. A Year later the USSR was bankrupt.
They trundeled on with a heavy deficit for a few more years until 1989 when they the iron curtain fell and their finally their total collapse in 1991.

remember recently when China threatened to "throw the USA into the sea of coronavirus?"
although they're not talking about it on the news, the world governments took that incredibly seriously, for what it is
China would never cut off the production of medicine to the US in a time of crisis (only because it would make them lose face) but the fact that they behaved in such a way will not be forgotten by the international coummunity.
Everyone now knows that China COULD fuck their entire country up without waging a war. They could literally make up any reason to not send the medicine (like the factories were destroyed in an earthquake or whatever)

Nations could very well start to notice that it's no longer beneficial to let China constantly get away with the cheating they do on trade when they could partner up with other developing nations like Vietnam etc.
