Corona-fucked

>laid off from 12 year salaried dev job
>now wageslaving at grocery store where I'll probably get infected and die
Who else /corona-fucked/ here?

SEETHING FIZZ BUZZER

THEY TOLD ME IF I LEARNED TO CODE I WOULD BE SAFE

quick question, is coffee good for us?

>staying at 1 dev job for 12 years

Way to blow up your larp in the first few words.

Why didn't you just get unemployment retard

>salaried
>not being an independent contractor
Yikes man. It's like you hate freedom or something.

>code monkey
>salary
bullshit

sounds fake but stay safe regardless

Some people like having health insurance.
I don't know of any hourly programmers personally.

Self-employed here. Can't do my normal job because everyone is self-quarantined, so I had to get a part-time temporary job just to make of the difference.
I was free, no boss, no supervisors, the ability to set my own hours, and now I have to go back to wageslaving for a few weeks.
I make less hourly, and now I have a boss.
I had forgotten how shitty being a wageslave was. I served my sentence and now I have to go back.
Fuck you Coronachan. I hope Quinine chokes the shit out of you.

What kind of developer are you? I haven't lost my job (yet) and have also been salaried dev ops for the same company for a long time now (started around the 2008 recession when I got out of school).

In my state there were 10k unemployment claims during the first week of restaurant/non-essential business closures, the system was completely overwhelmed and many people who were eligible were unable to be accepted. This is likely common around the country.

There are currently over 3 million people out of a job in the United States right now, in large part because of the effect of lockdowns on the economy.

this. not even germans are that stupid.

>cybersecurity still making six figures working at home
pretty comfy desu

>programmer
>already laid off
Is it really like that in muttland? Even code monkeys are a valued resource around here.

It's not about losing your job it's about changing your job every 3 years to get a raise. Also if OP was a developer he would have a lot of money stashed away and if his COL is too high a grocery store job wouldn't help. He would just go on unemployment + whatever severance he has which should be enough to survive a year at least if its 12 years of severance. This is low effort trolling by some retard.

>salary
>developer
Where do you live? That was a thing like 10 years ago, but since the invasion of Indians the bottom fell out and now all the jobs are $14/hr temp positions. I left the field entirely and do project management for a pharmaceutical company now.

They can't just say hurrr system overloaded sorry but you're not getting any money. Should of kept calling them or trying, even if you couldn't sign up, eventually they would be forced to backpay you.

Self-employed leaf here. I have no more customers since end of February. I hope I'll get the $2000 a month Trudeau relief. This is my last «additional bit of hope.jpg».

Learn to journalism, bro.

I started my own business during corona. Doing okay.

Work in government, hanging in my comfy office. Nice and quiet because the at-risk are working from home. Feels good man.

My job was deemed essential so I get to keep raking in the cash while everyone around me gets pay cuts or loses their jobs. Get fucked lol.

>wagedance
Lost

Most code monkeys are salary. Can't give them an excuse to code slower

>Work in government
>anarkiddie memeflag

that pepe smile will never stop to make me laugh

>THEY TOLD ME IF I LEARNED TO CODE I WOULD BE SAFE
believing trannies and wymyn.... like ever....
I hope you stand up your feet again, user.
keep polishing your skills though, move working towards low level languages as it will help get a grasp of what's going on underneath all those frameworks and study commonly used algorithms.
that's what separates coders from programmers.

OP is larping. Stop feeding him

maybe you were a shitty developer and this was their plan all along to infect the world with a virus to fire you

My coding job is ultra safe, my company isn't overextended and we're still profitable (although revenue is down) while the pandemic is happening. Pretty comfy right now working from home.

the only answer is: a bad one

>he would have a lot of money stashed away
lol no. I know personally I had more money saved when I worked a shit hourly job for low pay decades ago. Whereas now with a nice high paying income I blow it all on the much nicer apt, and eating out or getting delivery constantly, vidya / computer shit, etc. Making more money is a trap to get you spending more.
Also our telecom guy who makes more money than I do had to work in a call center doing account resolution (talking down customers calling in to cancel their contracts) for a while back when he got laid off. And when I was a kid there was this supermarket with a lady working there who used to be an engineer. Not uncommon.

why do you make up stories

Lol im on rotation at work and I’m just chillin at home doing car modifications and playing doom eternal. Watch evangelion for the first time and gonna watch my hero academia while I’m at it. Gonna get my Donny dollars and buy new tires and some booze. I love you corona Chan

I have the opposite problem. My company won't let me work at home since "I am so vital I need to be on site" while 90% of the office gets to go home. Fuck this shit I want my Trudeau bux.

You make more at a grocery store than you earn from unemployment after 12 years of professional work?

Op is probably one of those retards who thinks it’s shameful to collect unemployment when you’re laid off

Germans can't pick out bad bait. No wonder you lost.

In MD-DC-VA area I'd say around 100-130k is standard for a few years of experience. Around 150-200k for better positions.

There were 3 million new layoffs from COVID-19 just reported today. I don't think you can even get through to get unemployment pay until weeks from now, and rent is due on the 1st at most apartments (and if it's a California apartment, rent costs 6 gorillian dollars a month).

>12 year salaried job but no savings
>work at grocery store without filing for unemployment
terrible larp, terrible bait

This is BS. All devs have secure jobs as they can all work from home.

...

ctmirror.org/2020/03/25/laid-off-due-to-covid-19-the-wait-for-benefits-is-3-weeks/

Haha loser

Are they not suspending payment?

>All devs have secure jobs as they can all work from home.
Businesses in the US lay people off to avoid spending money on payroll when they know they're heading into an economic downturn. It's not because these people can't work. It's because the companies know their *customers* can't work and will start dropping like flies which will kill revenue. This is why you can't just "turn off the economy" for months at a time like Bill Gates wants.

Learn to code.

>Making more money is a trap to get you spending more.
If you are bad with money sure. That said the rest of my post you ignored is important because he most likely has 12 years of severance and unemployment pays more than the grocery so he clearly is lying.

>work my ass off from 2015-2020
>buy house
>start saving money a couple years ago
>have 25k in bank
>everything_going_pretty_well.jpeg

>Get laid off jan 15
>Go on unemployment
>300 /week
>Wife keeps working, we scale back spending
>still not dipping into savings

>find job that pays similar
>FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!111
>"Sorry user, we have to pull your job offer due to a hiring freeze. The future with the virus is too uncertain."
>Fuck
>Slowly watch most of the jobs in my field disappear...
>... you gotta be kidding me....
>Massive unemployment begins
>....HOLY FUCK IM FUCKED

>Trump buck coming.... okay
>Unemployment assistance ... really?
>extra $600 /week... wow
>gonna make $900 /week till June
>everything went better than expected

heck yeah buddy
Can't wait to tell all of the other dead people I was an Essential Worker. They're going to be jealous af

Try to take a job as soon as you can in your field even if it pays less. The longer you go without a job the harder it gets and who knows if this will get worse.

Attached: FUCK YOU.jpg (1341x2048, 308.19K)

I’m more pissed that my fellow “essential” coworkers called out saying they are sick or their offspring are sick. They get to miss work yet I’m here

You’re on the front lines now

I'm on day 5 of infection, I just want this suffering to be over

the only thing bothering me is chavs having all night parties

its been constant house parties since the clubs shut

kids are running riot at 1-4am while their parents get drugged up in the front gardens

I don't know what to do

>tfw work in supermarket where they make us do a sing song each day like the 'wal mart fight song' thing
>the supermarket is Tesco
>usually a song to a theme played on guitar by the store manager goes
>'We..... we are TESCO.... We are BESTO... and we will give the customers every deal that they need! We are TESCO, we are BESTO and we'll show off our butchers counter and our Angus beef! and if a customer should come, and that customer should cry, we shall do our best to find the chicken thigggggggggggggggggggggghs! we are TESCO AND WE'RE ALL FOR ALL'
>the song has been changed so the last line is 'if a customer should come and that customer should cough, we will do our best, to get their good and send them OFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF'
>we have to sing it everyday
>my job is threatened because they hired 10 new people and they are all faster than me
>gonna get fired and have to volunteer for the NHS or something

Attached: lll.png (1056x1089, 272.07K)

>'wal mart fight song' thing
Really wish I hadn't looked that up just now. Jesus Christ I hate this sick jew world.
youtube.com/watch?v=JOkQJm_UGM4

I just got a fresh full remote job doing the python. Currently living in Mexico. Got a nice house for like $500/mo ... making about 130k/yr

>$500/mo
How hard is it to sneak across the boarder into Mexico right now?

Said it in another thread;
>Be supermarket worker
>Probably gonna be coofed on and die or get stabbed by toilet paper thieves

>Already losing hours and money to literal law and econ and engineering grads who can't find any work and are happily taking shit pay and getting coofed on at the supermarket now

One upside - way more white people who can read and way less Chinese people who can't read and also spend a lot of time feverishly sweating and coughing next to you.

Call the cops. Cops should give us a 10% cut of every case we report and they successfully fine/jail.
