The problem is masks don’t do anything without goggles, and then proper decontamination methods must be followed or at least attempted.

This refers to surgical masks, not sealed respirators. The masks are designed to prevent you from spreading whatever you may already have, not protect you from whatever's out there. The surgical masks are needed by healthcare workers to avoid infecting vulnerable patients. A respirator with a good seal around your mouth and nose WILL protect you from inhaling most viruses in airborne water droplets. Sealed goggles and washing your hands before eating or touching your face would also help.

The guy in OP's vid kinda ruined the seal with sandpaper although that hot melt PLA edge wouldn't be that effective by itself. Shoulda put a bead of RTV silicone around the edges.

I went to the grocery store today and the minority of people were not wearing masks. That's what prompted me to buy a mask in the first place. Con is the composite filters need to changed more often, and viral residue will stay longer on the plastic if you don't disinfect it.
I think they sell the particulate replacements separately, might want to get spares.

Pancake filters last much longer due to the increased surface area but are exposed to the elements.

As far as barrier effectiveness goes, they should work the same though.

Ease of portability and social acceptability. You don't stand out when you wear the disposable filters, also having multiple filters means you can give them out to friends.

I am in Vancouver wa, they're not testing anyone outside the risk factor area, I been trying to get tested and they have told me all sorts of fucking excuses not to, I have been directed to the health department, to the hospital, to hot lines you name it.

Even if I do the test it's going to take like 15 fucking days cus is all being done in Seattle and they got a back log for months for why I understand.
