With most women in the work force this also equates to less at home educational experience for children via thier parents. This greatly affects a child's development and can stunt overall learning ability. Those few who do stay home are so out of touch that they can't even begin to understand how to communicate with their kids in order to give them the building blocks that will become the starting foundation to their much needed education. There are some moms who have no clue what to do or how to talk to their kid in order to start educating before they start school, or are so wrapped up in themselves that they simply don't care to try and will do anything to even avoid communicate with their own kids. If more mom's didn't have to go into the work force and stayed home, even if it was just talking to their kids about things, it would help build vocabulary. Read stories to them, it helps them learn to read. Teach them how to count, it's the foundation of basic mathematics. Sing the alphabet, it's how they will learn their ABCs. It doesn't matter if you feel silly or stupid, it isn't about you. It is about the life you brought into this world. They didn't ask to be here, the parents did. It is their job to be their child's first teacher, their first friend, and their first love in life.
