This "curve" only exists because of the testing method itself. We didn't even test anybody for it until around late January/Feb, even though its likely been here since November. And since the national emergency was declared (March 13), the testing has increased by multiple factors. This is the reason for a linear graph "curve"
And we can only ever know who has it by taking this test (remember ~86% of people will exhibit no symptoms at all, so they are not being counted). So most people who have it will never get tested for it. And the so-called "peak" that we are waiting for is manufactured by the fact that those who are old and sick enough to die from it, will eventually die from it? It will then "taper off" once we get our "totally necessary" vaccines, not because of herd immunity, thus creating the illusion of "flattening le curve"
