I also study ancient greek. I dont have translation I read, but they he did not use "white" they used "fair" in relation to the darker persians and africans. I am not claiming they were all pale and blonde haired, but they were certainly not completely brown as I assume your trying to say. They even treasured pale skin and blonde hair, see the description of Socrates in plato's symposium and of that one guy who talks a lot in the Illiad. Furthermore, most of the pictures you are using come from red-figure style pottery where the only two colors they could use where red and black, why dont you use the late white ground pottery? Where they only used shades of white.
