We defend most of your shipping, most of your eastern frontier, and put you under our nuclear umbrella. We allow your countries generous trade access to export your way to affluence so you can afford all this. So we basically guarantee your safety and economic viability, which frees up money for you to give everyone free healthcare and college and let them retire at 55. In exchange, we get nothing but trade barriers, lectures on how much better you are than us, and childish temper tantrums by spoiled European socialist governments and spoiled European citizens when we call you out on any of it and threaten to cut off your gravy train.

The EU is like a friend who constantly needs a lift and wants to borrow $20, and then gets pissed off when you say you can;t help them out. The difference between 30 years ago and now is that we no longer need your help containing the Soviet Union, so we have no need to prop you up anymore. And so we're slowly just ghosting the EU, and the EU leadership is shitting bricks trying to figure out how the fuck their export-dependent economies in northern Europe can survive if they don;t have free access to American consumers anymore.

The EU doesn't exist within a void retard. There are only over a hundred other countries out there. Ten or so that are actually relevant. Besides the German market has been highly protected in recent years against competing forces within the EU showing that it isn't a unified market and is actually a collection of countries with a similar economic policy and loose border control.
