My mother caught an odd cold virus and it caused her to lose her sense of taste and smell for a few years. Essentially only able to taste direct flavors of sweet, salty, etc, but nothing distinct. Eventually her taste returned.

I think many people caught it and have recovered already. Think about how new york suddenly started testing more and got like 10000 new cases all at once the other day. I think it’s basically another flu and symptomatic people who got sick just assumed it was basic influenza.

I’m pretty sure I got it a month ago after flying. Felt like an awful flu but with a worse fever/aches and slightly better cough than normal. My fever lasted 6 days which is really long for me. Weirdly my wife and daughter never caught it.
