DIGITAL HOARDING

There's all this hooplaa about stocking up on food and toilet paper, but where my /digital/ hoarders at??

If the internet goes down, how are you going to keep entertained, Yas Forums?

I have myself a 5TB external USB drive that I'm planning to fill up with movies, TV shows, and entire youtube channels worth of content. Also, if the internet goes down I intend to play single player video games.

I actually have three 5TB external drives. One for actual backups of important data, one for my xbox for huge goddamn massive game downloads, and the one for media that I mentioned. But yeah, I'm gonna have to make some space for porn as well.. Shit I might need another hard drive.

I once had half a years worth of music. As in if you listened to it all, it would take you half a year to complete.

Checked for making it bro

40TB of movies, tv, games, books, magazines, etc. etc.

The pirate bay has been down for AT LEAST the last 5 days for me. Has anyone been able to get through?

I wonder if I should download some archives of Yas Forums....

books, all sorts of books and manuals for a variety of things - survival, building and fixing stuff, cooking recipes etc
playing video games and watching movies if the internet died is the most pozzed thing you could do

Same. Use 1337x dot is instead.

I've hoarded 28.5 gigabytes e-books in the last 20 years and I think that's enough hoarding. I'll only download something I'll read immediately.

If there was a nuclear war, would internet disappear for everyone if only California or Florida was hit?

I had this paranoid thought last night and have now been considering just ... physically transferring the most important info

My nigga.

Also, rarbg is pretty good.

Got my DAW, audio interface and instruments so I'll be entertain myself until eternity. Just gotta make sure I religiously back up my VST folder.

If the internet goes down entertainment will be the least of your concerns unless you're already set up at a remote self sustainable homestead.

I have 100gb of music at least.
2 2tb hardrives with all sorts of shit on

Playing Vidya? Kys

Collection started 2007
I have all the music, anime, movies and TV shows I've downloaded and neatly organized on my external HDD
All the major game console emulators and full ROMpacks.
10k DOS games
About 15k ebooks
Shitload of programs, audio editing, photoshop, blender etc.
Feels good man!

what's a good program to spider and download websites? I had one, but I lost it. There's some stuff I need to back up.

I'm not anticipating the internet actually "going down". I'm preparing for temporary slowness and outages. For example it might go down for a few hours, maybe a couple days at the very absolute most.

As it stands now utilities like power, internet and water will not be going down because of coronavirus. Additional major compounding event(s) need to happen in order for that to occur. Corona will not cause that on its own.

Based dutch music producer. What DAW are you using? I was on FL Studio back in the days when I used to make 'music' and mess around with the program, those were some good days. But if I were to start again with that pastime, I'd probably switch to and try Logic Pro X

????????????
Of SHTF that internet goes down, power will be long gone before it. What are you smoking dude

Internet is provided to everyone from a remote location. Key servers may not be located in the area where your powers is produced. Internet can be affected, slowed or stopped while your power is still running.

not politics

not human

Comic Books are also great, I bought a bunch a while ago for times like this. Also Cyberpunk couldn't come any sooner right now.

I have 700 gigs of black metal... All fucking black metal.

Got a NAS with media and my pc is running Pseudotv on top of Kodi, so I have my own fake cable system with twenty plus channels of my content streaming. Without sportsball I can drop livetv entirely.

I'm not hoarding anything. If the internet goes down i'll just go make some stuff with my lathe or work on my house, like a productive human bean.

This is literally all pointless. The power grid will go down before the internet will lmfao.

you are either a manlet jap with small penis or an obese american with small penis. either way i am better than you, seethe more.

I actually downloaded a bunch of YouTube survival videos like how to camp in car, how to gut various local animals (birds, squirrels, fish). Set up tents & traps, edible plants. Downloaded my entire music library too. Video games were always in my local hard drive.

rarbg.to

Nintendo Switch lite standing by.

Get Elona+.
Game's tiny, and you can play it for years.

>He doesn't own a generator
Lmao what a fucking scrub

I’ve been hoarding (you)s for months . Am I in trouble lads

most of it probably sounds like garage gnomes fucking

Get Kiwix compatible wiki files (.zim format) from here: kiwix.org/en/downloads/ You can install the reader on Android, but you'd need an exFAT formatted card to store the big files.

Archive.org has all the retro games you'd want. I use jdownloader to download what I want.

Typical pirate sites have games you'd want. If you want TV you should know where to get it by now, or get a cheap USB dongle TV adapter and connect a TV antenna to that; combine that with a simple app like SageTV or - ugh - Windows Media Center and you're golden.

wget

here's a site for ebooks

That pic hits me in the feels guys. Happier simpler days they were.

Gonna be hard to use computer when electrical grid goes offline

Over 9000 vidyas, xvids, brips... all set here

yea lemme waste my generator and the gas that fuels it on a computer.

>if the internet goes down
If the internet goes down it's game over, you understand that right?

We're going to need more than hardware.
Start hoarding knowledge

Attached: AOE.jpg (650x488, 58.72K)

Yes? If we get to the point where power's down, I'm gonna fucking raid people for gas and propane.

That's cute.

Attached: Capture.png (255x375, 11.49K)

I want to go back. Fuck this gay future, I just want to be happy again.

>what are service outages due to heavy usage

5TB is pretty weak user, I've got 24TB on my plex server and a another 6TB on my gaming PC and I consider myself a "light" data hoarder. I have friends who would put my setup to shame.

Since last summer I've been hoarding all types of media. Got a fuck ton of movies, anime, and TV shows running on my own Plex server. Fuck Netflix, Hulu, Disney, and Amazon. I don't need them. I've also got drives full of cracked PC games, full ROM sets for nearly every retro game console and handheld, ebooks, audiobooks, podcasts, bootleg live show recordings, and more.

I've also started hoarding stuff like OS install discs, drivers, cracked versions of useful software that I like, and even installers for freeware programs.

The only thing I worry about it losing power. I need to get a generator or something so I can actually make use of this shit if the grid ever goes down.

go solar mate, couple of decent panels and you'll be set

Youre not wrong.

I've bought a lot of games second hand over the years as you can get them for 10-30 bucks from the bargin bins at retailers which is in many cases cheaper than online sales. Many of the ones i download are single player only. Ive got RD2 and skyrim to finally get through and finish, im sorted.

>Fuck Netflix, Hulu

Get PlayOn and rip shit. Only 720p though.

How much energy can a modern solar panel even produce? I'm not expecting 24/7 operation if I lose power, but it would be nice to have the option to use it for a few hours a day.

They will just reduce bandwidth, if you live in the the middle of bumfuck nowhere then it's your own fault.

That frothy latte cup looks amazing

I've got a few books to read on my Kindle.
Probably just smash my gf more.

Why bother when someone else has already done it for me? I've yet to run into a show that's available on Netflix or Hulu that I can't find on a torrent tracker or newsgroups.

I killed a gaming laptop this way during hurricane Ike. Dont plug in computers when a generator is running, ever!

There's no point in hoarding that much random shit. You never look at it or use 99% of it. I know this because I have 22TB of shit backed up on my Unlimited Google Drive and I never look at 99% of the stuff I have backed up there. Also, I have it remotely mounted on my filesystem so I can easily access it at any time, (1Gbp connection) yet I still rarely touch it at all.

Past a certain point, storing that much data switches from keeping a useful collection of stuff, to simply trying to make the numbers go higher.

Try finding Malcolm In The Middle decent rips. PlayOn is the best way to get a decent rip of that particular show. 3rd Rock From The Sun is also fucky. All rips are heavily interlaced. And even PlayOn rips it interlaced IIRC.

That's because your cheap generator doesn't smooth out the spiky output, should've gotten an UPS in line with the generator.

I GOT 1056 BOGDANOFF MEMES BUT I CANT GET RID OF THEM. I MAY NEED THEM SOMEDAY

5 TB is already information overload.

not sure of exacts but I've seen people set them up on camper vans and run both TVs, laptops and other random appliances off of them, they wire in a few lead acid car batteries to it for low light and nighttime use. A little time consuming and expensive to get setup but off grid living always is

To be honest most of it is media I've already consumed. A large portion of it comes from personal rips of all of my DVDs and Blu-Rays. My main goal was to have a wide variety of content to consume without having to pay for any monthly subscriptions, and I've accomplished that well.

My hoarding as slowed down very much so, but if there's a new movie/show/game I find that I'm interested in I'll stash a copy on my server even if I don't intend to use it immediately.

Will I ever be able to watch every single movie/show/anime I have on my server? Probably not. But it's about having the freedom of choice without having to pay for it.

I have enough books for several lifetimes.

Happiness was never an option. Unless you're a braindead drooling npc normie
