I've noticed an uptick in the number of stories trying to paint Chloroquine a some kind of highly dangerous drug, despite having a long track record of safety. There are good studies showing it could be effective against Corona and is currently being used in South Korea. I went to the Dominican Republic during a small Malaria outbreak in 2009, the doctor prescribed me Chloroquine as a precautionary measure. I was 17 years old at the time.
On Day 3 or 4, I can’t quite remember which day. I started having some minor euphoria and pressure in the back of my head. That night I wasn’t able to sleep due to me being in a very excited euphoric state. I then was unable to sleep/had insomnia for the next week. I exhibited signs of mania and strange thought processes. Me being 17 at the time young and dumb I wasn’t able to connect the dots it was the Chloroquine, the Dominican doctors were also inept and clueless to attribute it to the prescription drug.
At the end of the week I had full blown temporary psychosis resembling a schizophrenic meltdown. Strange conspiracy theories regarding my origin, God, the government everything. I was convinced I was a superhuman that was invincible and had full blown active daytime hallucinations. I was Baker acted by the police and they immediately concluded it was the Chloroquine after a quick rundown on my medical history. I recovered after a week.
From my experience most people on my trip had some sort of negative reaction to the drug, albeit none as extreme as me. This drug is nuts

Why contain it
Chloroquine looks promising but it has some fairly serious side effects.
Regarding that French chloroquine paper which most people tend to refer to. There are some confounding stuff which makes the result less reliable.
When you look at the patient data. The people receiving chloro + azi or chloro alone have lower readings of virus genetic material than the untreated control group. If I remember correctly he Ct (a measure of the amount of virus genetic material) values of chloro + azi group for virus were about 26 whereas the untreated was around 24 average. This would correspond to a four-fold higher viral load in the untreated group before the start of the trial. So I'm a bit sceptical as the untreated people looked set for a worse outcome from the start.
That being said the effect of drugs looked quite strong. So a properly managed larger scale clincal trial might show good results. This treatment might be good but it is not neccessarily as good as some people make it out to be. We'll have to wait and see I guess.

A patent-free Coronavirus cure (like chloroquine) would be disaster for the drug companies who have billions to lose. Chloroquine is so ubiquitous that it is used to keep down algae in fish tanks; the fish-tank chloroquine was what poisoned a couple in the US who self-dosed (overdosed). The. Dems are involved in some of the alternate drug developments and stand to lose big bucks.
You fucking idiots need to understand the treatment is based around hydroxichloroquine as in the safest more modern version of the drug. Its commonly used by people with arthritis or lupus around the world. No psychosis or health hazards. Prolonged use could affect the eyes but it's rare, and when that happens doctors just cut the ingest and that's it.
