As you can see even in the poorest retard states elementary school teachers which are glorified babysitters are paid on average around $50,000 a year. Now consider that teachers don’t even work 3 months out of the year AND get tons of vacation time.
Why are we constantly told teachers aren’t paid enough?
>why does the media lie to us
Jews
Teachers get paid just fine, they're doing a shitty fucking job teaching kids and if anything should be paid less. Every fucking week there's a new story about a teacher banging students so we shouldn't be supporting pedophiles
On top of that, I never understood why people who work for tax payer dollars are allowed to unionize.
you mean like cops too?
I stated people who work for citizens' money. What do you think?
And most of that is spent on buying their own supplies and materials because the state only funds football. Much of a teacher's funding comes out of their own pockets.
In the states with the highest pay also has the highest requirements to be a teacher. You might call them "glorified babysitters" but in ny they require a master's degree in order to teach. They deserve the pay
I RULE your children's formative little minds, racist. How about I just convince your son to cut his dick off instead?
>How's that sound, hmmm?
The requirement is the issue in those cases. There's no reason for a teacher to make the same amount of money as an engineer.
>but in ny they require a master's degree in order to teach
That's every state. AFAIK Most states require you to get a Master's within 5-10 years of beginning to teach or they strip your license. It's pretty dumb desu. 50k/yr for a Master Degree is dogshit.
Ask anyone with an MBA if they'd work for that much.
didn't work on me won't work on my kids
A lot of southern States don't require that actually. And yes 50k/yr for a masters is low pay, op is saying they don't deserve it.
>There's no reason for a teacher to make the same amount of money as an engineer.
I don't know about you, but I actually value my children quite highly.
I figure the person that's going to be taking care of them while I'm at work and teaching them about the world ought to be very good at that job and compensated accordingly.
You don't get any more engineers without good teachers... I'd also like someone who's not a total idiot teaching my kids
But he said he was "fully up for the experience". >Gawd, don't be such a square.
>glorified babysitters are paid on average around $50,000 a year
Not too bad, but if I was told I would have to babysit niggers for 9 months, I wouldn't take any less than $75k
Especially in areas like detroit, it must be the worst job imaginable
Teachers are just babysitters. If you go get a master's degree for that it's your own fault.
>There's no reason for a teacher to make the same amount of money as an engineer.
There's plenty of reason. Like it or not teaching is a necessary function in society. The turnover rate is also extremely high in many school districts. Becoming a teacher requires going into between $20,000-$50,000 debt for intial licensure, and then another $30,000-$60,000 to stay certified. Teachers also so frequently buy their own supplies for students that Federal and State governments give a tax write off for it.
They absolutely deserve a middle class lifestyle at the very least. If you want to babysit and teach your own kids then do it, but don't say that an already struggling demographic deserves even less.
My buds wife makes 45 a year in texico. How did she get shafted so hard.
My GF was dumb enough to get a teaching job at one of the worst schools in Harlem. I told her not to work there. She cries most days.
Cry my a river. I had to pay for my own tools and I also buy my own pencils.
>teachers wouldnt even get the "means tested" neet checks democrats wanted at $50k cutoff
Because they are being told to waste their time with the Diversity™ students and ergo accomplish nothing. I can imagine that any teacher supposedly (or provably) living in poor conditions is wasting their money or being extorted elsewhere. eg: Just get this brand new car and pay it off over the next 3 years for triple the price!
Just because you fucked off in school and never learned anything doesn't mean other's did. You probably didn't graduate, watch others children now and are but hurt that you make less than them.
Does she hate niggers yet, or does she see them as 'troubled youths'?
>Hey goy you should be grateful that there are teachers out there willing to disparage your children for being white.
>implying people learn anything in school
Khan Academy could replace every teacher in America.
>op is saying they don't deserve it.
I know and that's why I think he's a retarded faggot. I'm getting my teaching license as a backup, but I'd prefer to get an MBA and move into management at my current job. I live in MD, and the average pay of $67k/yr is horseshit if you don't live in a select few of the wealthiest counties.
In my county the average starting rate for a teacher is $47k/yr and I make almost that much as a warehouse peon. I'm not saying they need to make 100k/yr starting out, but saying they deserve less is just stupid especially since there is already a severe teacher shortage as is. They are glorified babysitters, but at the end of the day somebody needs to do it while the parents are at work.
Yep. How many days do they actually work annually, and constantly complain, then drug into politics every election cycle and relish the drama of it all...
.
Sick Days 6? Personal Days 6? Federal Holidays 10? Breaks; Easter 7?, Christmas 14? Summer or Year Round Schedule 0-90?Vacation Days 7-21? Conferences ? Parent Days?
.
Plus short hours, Aid, student TA, free periods, etc.
Yeah and if you can't it means you're stupid
Khan academy doesn't enforce discipline, teach social skills, or provide a watchful eye over your hellspawn for 8 hours.
Ya, I value them too. What does that have to do with a middle class wage not being enough?
Throwing money at people won't make them suddenly better at their job. If we got rid of teachers' unions and paid for their performance, sure.
Being a trash man is necessary and we don't pay them 90k a year either. It's arguably much more important. Without sanitation we die. Jobs pay based on difficulty and not by importance.
>they deserve a middle class lifestyle
There isn't a single state where that isn't already true. The states that pay 50k have such a low cost of living that the teachers would be able to pocket half of their salary per year if they were responsible.
Do you get insane amounts of time off peon?
>8 hours
>dump an extra 5 hours of useless clearical "homework" on top of that
>"muh social skillz"
>people you produce cant even hold down jobs at mcdonalds or not go to a beach during a mass international pandemic
fucking american education is the second most expensive hunk of shit and its college system the most, at least welfare feeds jamal and keeps him from committing "toooo" much crime
Pull your kids out of school and petition your local goverment for lower property taxes then. Make sure to tell every you do it because you think teachers need a pay cut. 50k/yr is a livable wage, but it is not a ton of money. You will never be able to build real wealth on that money. It's not poverty tier, but it's still barely middle class.
>The states that pay 50k have such a low cost of living that the teachers would be able to pocket half of their salary per year if they were responsible.
College isn't free. What you said might be true if teachers weren't required to go into massive debt and buy their own supplies. The government claims that if pay your loans for 120 months then they completely forgive them, but it's bullshit because fewer than 1% qualify for that PSLFA. Teacher also still work during the summer and after school. Idk why you brianlets think standing in front of a class is the only part of a teacher's job.
I keep forgetting Yas Forums is retarded
The ones who attempt to teach niggers should get hazard pay.
>If we got rid of teachers' unions and paid for their performance, sure.
By what metric do you grade a teacher? Test scores? Not every kid has a stable home life or parents that are actively invested in their education. Parenting is the ultimate barometer of how successful a kid will be.
I never said it wasn't a full time job, please reread my post. There's absolutely no reason a job that doesn't pay based on performance should pay as much as being a scientist. There's far too much baggage in our national teaching staff to just pay more.
Because teachers will never admit the real reason they want more pay. Which is because they have to babysit niggers and the stress of that is overwhelming to a lot of women.
Premiums for working in distressed regions in parts of a state, Detroit for example, should exist, further bonuses for helping these most disadvantaged kids. With the teachers' union, it's the opposite. The teachers in my area make just under 80k per year while the Detroit teachers make roughly half.
Weren't Minnesota teachers recently on strike, dont they only work 10 months a year???
fuck off. A lot of would be kunatic chimpzos turn out decent because of a few good teachers in their lives. We have too many old women in schools.
because it's a convenient excuse for the failure of public education to civilized the negroid
The public shouldn't be paying them at all.
>There's absolutely no reason a job that doesn't pay based on performance should pay as much as being a scientist.
Maybe being a scientist should be pay more instead? Why do you retards prefer to kick everyone else down instead of lifting them up?
>dude just like make more money like appear
I'm not sure you understand any of this.
Having sold supplies to school systems maybe they should spend their budget on what's used instead of wasting it all on bullshit at the end of the year so the principal can have a nice new chair?
The schools have the budget, they just choose not to spend it on what is needed and somehow it's the fault of the taxpayers and not the shitheads 'administrating.'
smoothbrain is best brain
I'll answer your question directly instead of insulting you, I'm sorry that I was rude. If we got rid of our worst 25% teachers, increased the class sizes of what remains, then teachers would be paid more. The reason engineers make more is because they're responsible for their underperformance. When someone can simply clock in and clock out, the value of their labor is cut.
They work half the year
Teachers are glorified babysitters.
when people say teachers are not being paid enough you have to realize its lefties saying teachers need more resources to propagate leftist propaganda
>They work half the year
FUCKING THIS. Half days, snow days, 2 week Christmas break, 1 week spring break, and if course SUMMER. On top of that they make 50k+ for what is essentially a part time job? Cry me a fucking river.
Its a stale meme that was once kinda true decades ago but is now just a scare tactic used by teachers unions in state election to get more gibs. Teachers get paid far more than they are worth nowadays. Especially considering the quality of education most public schools offer
Timothy 2:12
>I'm not sure you understand any of this.
I understand it completely. You want to decrease teacher pay because you believe they should earn less than scientists.
>dude just like make more money like appear
Quite literally what's happening now in the economy.
>If we got rid of our worst 25% teachers, increased the class sizes of what remains, then teachers would be paid more
That's not at all what would happen. Do you even understand how schools systems are funded? Teachers don't get paid more unless you raise property taxes in your city/county. If you got rid of 25% of the teachers then you just end up making the other 75% worse because they now have the added stress of increased class sizes. Teaching a smaller class is always more effective than a teaching a larger. That is why so many universities emphasize professor-to-student ratio.
Teachers are also not evenly distributed across disciplines. There is a SEVERE shortage of STEM, special ed, and foreign language teachers because working for private industry in those fields pays more than being a teacher. Your whole argument just shows a lack of not only compassion, but also a complete lack of understanding about how the teaching profession actually works.
Edfag here.
Close enough. It bs+something like 2 years even in the least restrictive states for full time. Less is only for an emergency credential.
Unfortunately teacher ed is half ass at that.
We have a bunch of chapo raiders visiting, and they’re clearly slow on the uptake.
I’m trying to think of worse masters degree jobs. I know someone who moved from Detroit public schools to teaching in the prison system, and calls it an upgrade.
I literally said this multiple times you dumb cunt. Teachers being babysitters doesn't mean they should be paid minimum wage. Tell your wife to quit her job and educate your kids if you think they're so unnecessary.
I'd love defunding K12. At the very least, cut by 20%. How much of high school subjects do most adults actually use, anyway, on a daily basis?
Florida and Hawaii, yeah that's barely enough to live. The rest though, with cost of living, is fair for what they do. What's the problem?
Women are terrible with money and get overpriced educations like theyre wedding rings.
Some people need the red pill in suppository form. I’m suprised you stayed.
textbook companies, and curriculum design maybe. There’s parts of the world going with full Kahn. Let’s see how they do.
Curious how you measure performance for teachers.
>I understand it completely. You want to decrease teacher pay because you believe they should earn less than scientists.
So you didn't read still or what? They're not responsible for their failures. They're unionized on our dime.
>If you got rid of 25% of the teachers then you just end up making the other 75% worse because they now have the added stress of increased class sizes
Other countries outperform us with larger classrooms than we have. The students stuck with the worst teachers would certainly be better off while teachers doing their job earn more money.
Teachers are also not evenly distributed across disciplines.
>There is a SEVERE shortage of STEM, special ed, and foreign language teachers because working for private industry in those fields pays more than being a teacher.
So get rid of teachers unions and pay on difficulty of the job/performance rather than the ability to exist in front of people while getting rid of the baggage that isn't teaching anyone.
It all comes back to this every time, you just refuse to see it.
>What's the problem?
The problem is that retards here don't realize that teaching, like every other field, has tons of money concentrated at the top. Schools administrators are paid very well for doing very little.
>Detroit for example, should exist,
You lost me there. Put up a fence of of dead gm cars, throw a nuke or two. Come back in a hundred years.
Detroit is turbofucked because of their politics. Even with their pay, they can’t get enough qualified candidates because of their rules designed to fuck up local politics.
I have an MBA. Had to start out as a bank teller making $27k to build experience. Degrees aren’t automatic paystubs. People too entitled to start at the bottom.
They also see school spending and are taking it out on the most visible target.
