The danger was that it would get buried. Things suddenly took a turn for the better when Elon Musk tweeted about it, drawing attention and legitimacy to the work. But now things have gone as well as they possibly could - the literal loudest man in the world has mentioned Hydroxychloroquine several times at some length, and pointed to the successful trials in various countries.
There's no way the elites and their shills will be putting this back in the box. Remdesivir is dead. Look at how Gilead shares took a big shit right after Trump revealed the true cure.

Unknown. I've been trying to find info on that. Chloroquine appears to alter the pH of a certain attachment site on the cell membrane, confounding coronachan and making her unable to latch on. I've been unable to find out enough about Quinine's mode of action to tell if it does anything similar.
Interestingly, Sodastream tonic water syrup bottles DO contain quinine. In Australia, quinine allowed in tonic water is 100mg/L. They say that one 440ml bottle makes 7-9 L of tonic water.
