I forget the term for the distance between an effective dose and fatal dose, but appears narrow for this drug. There was a China account of heart arrhythmia at 1500mg. I've only seen chloroquine phosphate indicated, by Chinese, not hydroxy chloroquine.

They should have done more research. The margin between effective dose and overdose - IN BLOOD - is very slim.
However, Chlrq has an extremely high protein binding affinity, long half-life and quick dispersion into tissue.
For this treason, Chlorquine is never prescribed as intravenous or acute doses, it must be taken in many small doses over a week or two. This give the chemical time to disperse into the body tissue (outside the blood), keeping the subject safe from acute toxicity.

Chinese doctors used 500mg twice a day for 10days - and that was as an intervention dose -- a prophylactic dose would be even less steep.
300mg/day for two weeks is probably sufficient, and will keep you covered for a month, avoiding acute toxicity.
