We have a law from the cold war called the "Defense Production Act." It allows the President to force companies to produce necessary goods in the event of war or other emergency. It hasn't been used in the modern era. Our big businesses don't want it to be invoked and persuaded Trump and his top two economic advisers, the idiot supply sider Larry Kudlow and the idiot Prince Jared Kushner to let business do what they want on a voluntary basis. This is resulting in total chaos with states and cities bidding against each other for hospital supplies and masks, and not much going on with respect to manufacturing more ventilators. Trump decided that business is more important that the life and health of we the people. He's lost my vote--I'll go 3rd party.
