Disconnect the batteries anyway to preserve cranking amps so you can start the vehicle. Occasionally start up the cars and let them idle for 10 minutes. You can also do a quick highway drive to recharge the battery via the alternator and disconnect it to preserve the juice.
If the batteries are serviceable (can pour water in battery chambers) get some distilled water on the side and refill them if they are low.

I had to deal with my mom's dementia (at least she wasn't wanting to drive) and the fucking OnStar in her Cadillac drained the batteries in like 2 weeks.
