Hospitals in cities like Bergamo are full and have been for weeks. Many people simply die at home. These bodies are never tested for the virus and hence never make the official death count. It's not trickery, just a fact of life. In a way it's pointless to test these Covid kills just to put them in the official statistics. They're dead and nothing will bring them back and the epidemic will still continue to rage so you just dispose of the corpses. The real death count can be estimated later.
