So, a couple of weeks back I gave up tobacco in an effort to bolster my immune response. But, is it actually a good idea to give up smoking weed? I've been thinking about it and it isn't so clear cut.
plusses of quitting: all inhalation of smoke irritates the lungs. given this virus damages lung tissue, it seems pretty clear cut. Also, marijuana has some effect on the function of the immune system itself, but this isn't well understood in humans.
negatives: I smoke it to get to sleep, I'm a raving insomniac without it. Loss of sleep will negatively effect the immune system, and if I go cold turkey it could take a week or two until I reset my sleep cycle naturally. That's 2 weeks in which I'm liable to catch the virus.
In addition, smoking marijuana depletes the cilia in the throat (they get fried off). The virus specifically attacks the cilia when it moves from the nasal cavity down into the back of the throat. So, by having less cilia, am I potentially helping myself out? If the virus gets into the nasal cavity it will begin releasing millions of copies right away, so perhaps it's inevitable it'll reach the lungs by that point anyway, cilia or not.
lastly, getting too stressed out dampens immune response. I don't really use MJ for stress reduction but at least it will allow me to devote all of my focus temporarily to what I want to study, instead of worrying about the virus.
Any other weed smokers have thoughts? Does anyone have a more in-depth medically informed opinion on this? inb4 "take your meds" "schizo" shills.
and for reference I'm an otherwise healthy and fit male in my early 30's.
Michael Garcia
I haven't smoked this stuff in 2 months. Is it out of my system?
Jason Lopez
just use a vape cart like everyone else who is 21+
Christopher Powell
Go back faggot
Jayden Russell
Depends on testing method, so no. Esp if you're fat.
Aaron Thompson
no, it's still in your fat cells, but your lungs are probably already in markedly better shape. The lungs are pretty resilient and good at cleaning themselves out, this can occur in a matter of months especially if you're young.
Isaiah Harris
no
Josiah Clark
I sure do love drug addicts rationalizing their addictions. Boohoo I can't sleep waaaah I need muh psychoactive drugs every night. Learning how to sleep without smoking weed sure is worse than than getting pneumonia while being predisposed for lung disease by virtue of being a smoker right? I bet you think smoking weed is magically safer for your lungs than smoking tobacco too. Fucking retard
Benjamin Cooper
and if edibles had any effect on me I'd consider it. I've done a high dose in the past and it had no effect on me.
Michael Hall
Went from smoking 5 j's a day to stone cold sober 11 months ago due to a legal battle. I'm definitely more present and aware of my surroundings and almost never forget things anymore.
That being said, just keep it to a minimum. Smoking in moderation is the best way to enjoy weed. Also, exercise.
Jacob Young
>I stopped smoking so muh Coronarino wouldn't get me!!
KeK. What a faggot.
Jayden Robinson
I only quit so I can save money to start my own business and break free of this kike world so I can be autonomous and not grease up some kike boss instead of making good money to buy all the weed I want. I still need to work on that logic though.
Hunter Fisher
My dealer is not responding, fugg. If I don't get some weed today who knows when I can get out of the house and buy
Ian Long
>I bet you think smoking weed is magically safer for your lungs than smoking tobacco too. I'm glad you read my original post, where I mention it irritates the lungs.
in truth, it is bad for your lungs as well, nobody is discounting this. the only thing smoking weed doesn't really impact is your V02 max. you can draw in the same amount of air as a nonsmoker, whereas tobacco will decrease it
Carson Wright
I'm not fat
Owen Hernandez
I exercise continuously. it's how I'm wired
good to hear you've found sobriety user
Benjamin Turner
it's still in your fat cells unless you're a malnourished skeleton
Elijah Brown
Lay down the weed user, trust me your life will improve so much.
Jaxson Scott
Dude weed lmao
Jack James
I'd love to give it up when the time is right. But is this the time? my fear as I mentioned above is if I go cold turkey now, I go out after getting 2-3 hours of sleep with a depleted immune system and I catch the virus.
Evan Young
I've been using THC daily for two weeks now. Was a smoker and vaper, but more occansionnaly
Mostly, it helps be with the stress. I don't feel any pressure about the shitty situation after. But I noticed that it also helps with the throat pain that I had for a few days.
> Vape, don't smoke > Take your vitamins
Alexander Russell
Take a large edible dose on an empty stomach before a meal or with a meal. This is the best way to get a potent initial onset effect that is then sustained for hours.
Joseph Russell
>Not mentioning mental side effects
Jose Smith
Haven't smoked in a week
Jordan Allen
Smoked daily for 6 years, quit cold turkey 1 year ago. In all honesty, life was way more magical while high, but I guess you gotta say goodbye to your love mj eventually. I also got shredded, thats a plus
Elijah Thomas
Forgot to mention that it's all heavily reliant on your blood glucose levels and other hormones working in your body during digestion. Insulin and many other peptides. Won't bore you with the minutia.
Logan Richardson
Just use a nightly edible; best of both worlds. If you want to quit THC for good you can slowly reduce your edible dosage per night until you don't need it anymore.
Austin Torres
Yeah, putting smoke or vapor in your lungs is a great idea with a virus going around that fucks up your lungs. are you literally fucking retarded?
Jonathan Rivera
I have thc distillate. 1 g and its GDP medical. Tw little dabs get me very sedated. Seems to last a while also.
Jordan Barnes
Have you noticed a clearer mind since quitting? I feel since ive been smoking for 4 years my thoughts have become more cloudy and my brain doesnt work as fast as it used to
Owen Garcia
I've tried a large dose on an empty stomach and it had no impact. Either it doesn't work for me, or my tolerance is too high. But I agree edibles is probably the way to go for most smokers here.
Eli Rodriguez
If you're a faggot schizo or a neurotic freak or have a predisposition to mental illness, you shouldn't do any sort of psychoactive drug. If you're healthy, any bad side effects quickly wear off with several days of sobriety and a refinement of dose.
All in all, don't be a degenerate and use soft drugs in a moderation.
Jacob Scott
You're 30 years old and still smoke weed.
It doesn't really matter at this point. You've already thrown your life away over this drug and will continue to do so. If you're over 22 and still smoke weed you've basically resigned your existence to becoming nothing.
Kayden Gray
This Isn’t Reddit >You Fucking Nigger
Nicholas Lewis
I've never tried distillate. What is the method of intake for it?
Aiden Foster
I would say more like 25-26
Gavin Bell
>Using a drug in moderation Your brain is not designed to be altered. The mind works best sober the way its made t. Poly addict
Oliver Adams
>t. Poly addict Which drugs are you addicted to?
Julian Sanchez
this doesn't make any sense on multiple levels. The brain completes development around 21-22, it's better to begin smoking AFTER that point. and in the 4-5 years I've been a smoker, I haven't noticed any negative impact on my life in general. no need to catastrophize.
Blake Cooper
Don't smoke weed eat it. better for your health and it lasts longer.
Luis Gonzalez
You should know pol is full of Nazis who hate weed and drugs, alcoholics who hate weed, Limp dick pussies scared of drugs, The listen to all media and I'm scared of weed. Probably shouldn't post this here with the amount of fags who are on this board.
Henry Flores
The mind is a very powerful tool. If you feel like it’s affecting your life and yourself then don’t smoke it. It’s all about how you handle it. I don’t let it interfere with my job and only smoke after work and weekends. Strive to get land and include it as a cash crop in whatever you’d want to grow on your land. Many benefits in trading as well.
David Green
Ketamine, weed, cocaine, mdma, nos and alcohol. I'd class my use of mushrooms and acid as an addiction because im addicted to the experiance rather than the substance itself. Got a lot better over the last year but still not 100% clear yet
Julian Campbell
You have to follow it with food within an hour of ingesting it if you are do so on an empty stomach. Whenever I have edibles I always dose right before a meal or as a desert immediately post meal. The effects are fucky and sometimes outright absent if I do it on an empty stomach with no food following it or in between meals. Again, it goes back to the THC working/being metabolized by your body in conjunction with digestion and the other chemical processes that naturally occur during digestion. Took me several years to get it down to a science. Studied biochem and physiology in college for whatever it's worth.
Juan Cooper
The point is that it's childish. Being able to spend hours of your day intoxicated is the mark of irresponsibility. It's likely that you don't have a family relying on you, and at age 30 that means your existence is ultimately inconsequential. So again, I think you should just do whatever you want. It doesn't matter anyway.
Jacob Gonzalez
>Your brain is not designed to be altered. If Stoned Ape Theory is true, this is horseshit.
Anyway, we have homeostasis, which is how drug tolerance works, so our brains HAVE been """designed""" to be altered.
Nathaniel Lopez
You do all that shit and blame weed for "mental illness"?
Jace Murphy
i feel a lot better once i quit smoking weed. my mind is clearer and i feel more like who i really am.
Cooper Morales
>You're 30 years old and still smoke weed.
I'd argue its better to smoke weed later in life rather than younger. You need that focus and energy to get life going and hopefully when you've made enough money and self-confidence in yourself the Weed only amplifies this feeling of achievement and/or contentment.
I'm 30 and I enjoy weed way more than I did as an anxious 19 year old who hardly had any real life experience, skills or money.
>Ketamine, weed, cocaine, mdma, nos and alcohol. is the deepweb that fucking reliable?
Logan Jones
I cut back a bit only because the wife and kids are stuck at home so I can't get high hourly in my garage
Ethan Garcia
Why all bongs such fucking degenerates when it comes to drug consumption? It's always cocaine this, random mystery powder that, have a pill with my coffee with you. You'd get the rope in an instant. I can't say I feel bad for you.
why does weed make you feel crazy when you smoke it? it's such a weird drug
Adam Anderson
+ your brain is still developing until early twenties. Doing drugs when your brain is aplastic is safer.
Michael Perez
You should quit smoking. Smoking might reduce the spread of the virus by paralyzing and killing your cilia, but it 100% will reduce your ability to fight off secondary infections, which are quite common with coronachan. The benefits you will gain from being able to sleep outweigh the risk of it potentially interfering with your immune system in some unknown way, however. Switch to edibles. Probably out of your system enough to pass a test. You didn't give enough factors to accurately answer. Need BMI, how much/often you smoked, test method and daily activity level. 100% you can pass a saliva test, you could probably pass a piss test, and you'd fail a hair follicle test. You'd still have elevated thc metabolite levels in your piss and blood but by now its likely to be under the threshold for you to fail the test.
Nathaniel Perez
>inhaling chemical shit laced in the liquid no faggot, vaporize the dry flower instead. There are plenty of dry herb vaporizers, desktop and portable.
Sebastian Nelson
Unironically this. I wish I had never done drugs in my youth. Absolute waste of precious time and scarce money. Youth in wasted on the young as they say.
Adrian Cox
I've smoked weed since I was 11, only regularly the past 4 years. Im 22 now. I know its 100% attributed to my mental state. Granted the others have done damage as well but I know its affected more than any other drug.
Its just a theory user calm down. No drugs are a susbstance and we misuse it. Simple. Not saying they arnt fun because they are very very fun.

.The new virus has some unusual characteristics that haven't been seen in other SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) outbreaks, both in the way it attacks the lungs and how it can infect people quietly, where they will have few or no symptoms for days or weeks but still spread the disease, said Dr. Michael Gale, a professor of immunology at the UW and the center's director.
...Gale said his researchers are working to understand how SARS-CoV-2 manages to defeat these mechanisms to invade a cell and take it over, forcing it to replicate copies of the virus even as it is destroyed.
..."Right now, its replication strategy is unknown," Gale said during a recent interview outside the Bio-Safety Level III laboratory in South Lake Union where his scientist opened the vial of SARS-CoV-2 this past week.
...That surreptitious transmission strikes Gale, as well, who noted that of the first 22 people who died in King County from COVID-19 - the individuals listed on the medical examiner's document - most had been patients at Life Care Center of Kirkland, a long-term nursing facility that became ground zero for the pandemic in the U.S. At last count, Dr. Jeffrey Duchin, the chief public health officer for Public Health - Seattle & King County, said 23 care facilities had reported patients or staff with confirmed COVID-19 infections.
..."The 2003 SARS outbreak was more acute," Gale said.
