Hey people of Yas Forums, Kraut MD here. I've taken some time off of Yas Forums to enjoy my quarantine without shills and shizos. I'm still doing great, no symptoms at all and surprisingly i am not bored at all. Situation at my hospital is still tense, lots of people coming in but almost all have very mild symptoms. We got one case on the ICU but even that one is in good condition. Talked to my colleagues who are still working, everybody is amazed how few critical cases Germany has and why Italy is crumbling so hard.

I'm a bit out of the loop because of my quarantine but last thing i was told from my hospital was this: should a patient be so ill that he needs antiviral medication we'd first use up or hiv supplies since they are well known to act on viruses and should numbers of cases increase we'd switch to chloroquine because it is cheaper and more available than hiv meds even thoigh not as established for treating viruses. I probed a bit harder about the one guy on our ICU and apparently he did not recieve any antiviral treatment, he just needs light CPAP Therapy for a preexisting Gold III COPD but he's not in a very critical condition. There is no official treatment for covid so every therapy is off label and may change from hospital to hospital.

Ich habe seit 10 Tagen leichte Halsschmerzen, ab und zu ist mir ein bisschen schwindelig oder ich hab ein bisschen Druck auf der Lunge. Bevor ich anfing zu kränkeln wurde ich auf der Arbeit nass und saß danach in meiner Pause eine halbe Stunde draussen. Am nächsten Tag ging es dann los und ich hatte wohl auch etwas erhöhte Temperatur.
Ich halte mich von den Leuten mit denen ich zu tun habe fern und habe seit letzter Woche Urlaub. Ich hatte keinen Kontakt mit einem bestätigten Fall und bin im Freundes-/Bekanntenkreis der einzigste der ein bisschen kränkelt. Wird wohl nur eine kleine Halsentzündung sein, oder?

At the moment we have more than enough capacities. I thougjt we'd be to our neck in shit now bit serious cases are rare. Nobody really knows why. Yes, middle eastern people get it as well. A runny nose cam be a sign of the virus, yes. If yku are young and healthy you'll most likely be fine. If you can, stay at home til your symptoms subside.

Apparently A is more at danger but we dont focus on that because the consequences are minute. If you have symptoms we take care of you and your blood type doesnt change anything in your therapy. So knowing your blood type is a nice trivial thing but with no impact on anything meaningful.

ACR2 is the entry point for the virus, so a higjer expression of it makes you more susceptible to catching the virus but it hard to say at this moment why Germans appear to be more resistant. The whole picture may change soon enough, we just dont know enough at this time.
