How does 8kun compare to 8ch?

I've never used 8kun until today, but I'm already extremely turned off due to the fact that every post has a fucking disclaimer warning.
I don't even know the whole story of why 8ch was shut down.

Less glowies for now. Which would be the main difference between 8ch and the 8kun. I think honestly 8ch had like 70-80% glownogs activity near the end. 8ch lost its popularity when it became 8kun so the quality is better there now.

i'm posting this wall because your comment reads like a tertiary who read a synopsis written by a secondary.

8ch was created as an alternative to the moderation of Yas Forums during gamergate, which still creates problems today due to tranny jannies. that was why 8ch had self created boards. It was not necessarily a "gamergate" community, and it was much better for in-depth conversation and lasting threads like older 4ch. for example, threads in 8ch Yas Forums about technical discussion of consoles. console generals, emulation generals, etc. more specialized topics with a smarter userbase. much better content than Yas Forums until the glowies attacked. reminded me of Yas Forums a decade ago. 8kun is also useless/trustless because of glownigger sabotage.

homogeneity of the whole 8ch userbase is bullshit. people would become more homogenous as they would find their hidey-hole board, which was actually a problem with 8ch. since people could create their own boards, people would eventually stay in smaller, atomized boards that discouraged cross-board discussion. although these smaller boards became more homogeneous within themselves, to claim homogeneity of the whole userbase is disingenuous. in-fact many smaller boards were created out of dissension.

I'm going to be honest, I never got into 8ch because when I tried it out back when gamergate was going on, their Yas Forums board was all just gamergate related stuff, and it got really tiring.

Where do you recommend to browse now? Currently I just try to use selective memory on Yas Forums

That always was my main issue with 8ch/kun and other sites with the same gimmick. The idea of creating your own board was good on paper because you didn't have to deal with powertripping mods or being forced to discuss shit on Yas Forums because there isn't a board for the topic, but in reality it only allowed retards to create their perfect safe spaces and echo chambers (for example, before it died 8ch had 20 Yas Forums-like boards and all but 4 were dead as fuck).

I haven't been able to make a single post o 8kun since it came back. Fucking buggy piece of crap.

Is a bit difficult to explain, but the main idea is that different image boards work together and merge the posts made in their respective boards into global boards that all users can see and post on. In theory this would mitigate the risks of being fucked by the gov or the hosting company, because if one website fell the rest wouldn't be affected. There were a few big real life events back-to-back on 8ch, namely Tarrant in NZ and then El Paso, which led to the site getting dropped from every web host and protection service and ended its existence. Yas Forums is predominantly larpers by comparison.

Higher quality posters, threads maintain focus much better than hear, generally much more informed user base.

It's also slow as fuck and has an active population of maybe a couple of thousand people. Expect it to diminish in quality in proportion to the active population.
