The entire economy is tanked and basically forced to shut down to "stop the spread" My boomer parents just got home from shopping all morning and saying how lievely it was and everyone was out and about walking etc.
i say "Oh so why cant they open any lower risk businesses and let things get back to normal"
"OH NO THEY NEED TO STOP THE SPREAD ITS OK FOR PEOPLE TO GO OUT OR FOR US TO SHOP BUT NO ONE ELSE SHOULD BE ABLE TO GO ANYWHERE AND SPREAD"
Really starting to think there are two possiblities. This is either a chink bio weapon and we are all fucked and delaying the inevitable, or this is just boomer fear mongering now that they are at the age they are at risk for flu related death etc. This is nuts. If boomers are so worried let 60+ self isolate and let everyone else get on with their lives.
Yes. They are shutting the world down because they are too selfish to stay inside while less at-risk groups go about business as usual.
This "virus" is the 'Iraq has WMDs' of the 2020's.
Ryder Sanders
Basically they were saying its ok for them to go do what they need to do and for people to go out walking, but all of society should be shut down and no one should be allowed to do anyhting so it doesn't spread to at risk people (themselves)
Oliver Richardson
Press F to pay your respects for those of you trapped at home with your boomer parents.
This virus was made for them to panic oppress their families into extinction.
Cameron Diaz
Boomer logic here: you can go to shopping malls, shopping etc. As long as you are doing something "acceptable"
>Go to sit in a quiet cafeteria to have a cup of coffee
THAT IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN. DO NOT YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT KIND OF RISK YOU ARE ALL PUTTING THIS
They also get highly aggressive. Somehow megastore supermarkets with +200 customers are "ok", but Cafeteria with 5-7 people sitting inside is a huge red flag and a fucking breeding ground for disease
Jason Garcia
They forgot my borthers coffee in the mcdonalds drive thru the other day and they were all panicking about my brother having to walk inside to get it.
Michael Green
Think about this, every store open has reduced hours, reduced expenses and is selling out of everything. This is a huge economic boom for retailers. Retailers nearly going out of business, its a godsend, no labor to pay out, rent is postponed. Gamestop is days from going out of business, but now they can ride this out for a while and recover costs. All retailers took a huge q4 loss last year and the q1 this year has been low as well.
David Howard
If it ends with China being nuked, I think that's a worthwhile trade
Noah Miller
exactly theres a total lack of logic to their though
Anthony Martinez
You forgot the simplest possibility: people are flat out stupid and don't understand what quarantine entails. Governments are unwilling to pursue harsh lockdowns in fear of looking too much like China's autocratic government. If this is a chink bioweapon, its real delivery mechanism is the hypocrisy and the facades of Western governments, that would rather see their people infected en masse than admit how far they wished to go with state control.
Charles Gonzalez
My 63 year old father is starting to lose it.
Every other day he is saying: >This disease is nothing, it is media blowing this all up, it will be over in 2 weeks >DON'T YOU FUCKING UNDERSTAND HOW SERIOUS THIS IS? THIS MIGHT KILL 5% OF WORLD POPULATION >China is already recovering, we are just 2 weeks away from China recovery levels >WE HAVE TO FLATTEN THE CURVE THIS DISEASE MIGHT CONTINUE FOR THE NEXT 5 YEARS
He cannot form an opinion, he is used to having one truth spoken from TV, but this kind of uncertain news has destroyed his black & white worldview and first time in his life he has to face uncertainty of the future.
He is mentally and emotionally incapable to handle this in any sort of logical way
Juan Cook
It's a Boomer. They literally don't believe in the future. They never planned for the future.
Jaxson Scott
>t. my father to a t
one morning hes out buying produce and totally normal, afternoon hes binge watching news and yelling about how bad this is and we shouldnt go anywhere
The TV is the Boomer's God. It's pretty funny. They need it to form opinions.
Connor Myers
NOOOOOO STOP THE SPREAD INCEL THIS IS THE ENDGAME THIS IS IT STOP FUCKING AROUND HERE. TRUMP IS KILLING PEOPLE (OF COLOR)
Easton Parker
My feeling is the powers that be need to level with us. If this is a chink bio weapon or some sort of leaked bio weapon due to the harvard/boston logan/winnipeg leaks situtation then they need to just tell us that so we can move into proper quarantine situations. If not then we cant just destroy our economy from top to bottom because boomers are afraid the bell might finally be tolling for them
Ryan Diaz
>My boomer parents just got home from shopping all morning and saying how lievely it was and everyone was out and about walking etc. Where the fuck do you live? Vancouver is (sensibly) dead. Everyone inside. But then Vancouver is rich, so maybe higher IQ?
Where in fuck is "lively and crowded"? AND WHAT KIND OF SON LETS HIS PARENTS RISK THEIR HEALTH AND YOURS, LIKE THAT? Grow some balls and step up, ffs.
90% of Westerners who AREN'T in the first wave (thus not totally caught unaware) are going to die because of their short attention spans.
Your boredom will be your demise. Read a book.

>It's a Boomer. They literally don't believe in the future. They never planned for the future. You spelled "Millennial" wrong.
Kevin Kelly
They have seniors hours from 8-9 am every day at the stores here so all the boomers go and buy all the food and tp every morning leavign the scraps for everyone else.
Owen Gonzalez
It's a Chinese bioweapon that escaped containment because chinks are notoriously inept and don't care about hygiene. The reason the media is shilling coronapanic so hard is because they're actually UNDERSELLING the threat, since if the full scale of the threat was unveiled, people would become very, very furious with China and this would have profound economic and geopolitical consequences for PRC (after all, they want their "world workshop" to still exist once this is done, can't have goyim have their own national industries, that might undermine globalism).
On the other hand, they can't say "nothingburger" either and let people work, because then the death toll would be in the tens of millions by the summer and that would have cataclysmic effects to the world economy, which in turn would spell the definitive END of their power.

>still shopping at this time when the virus is in uncontrolled spread mode Your boomer parents are probably dead and don't yet realize, they were supposed to have done shopping last weekend and be in hiding by now.
Jackson Lee
As soon as the recommendation for "no travel" began, my boomer parents literally start shopping for airline tickets to go to Las Vegas because tickets are cheaper due to the restrictions.

Look man I don't agree with supermarkets being open helping against the spread but it's a very small number of people who are not self sufficient with food and people have to get their food somewhere and I don't think coffeeshops can supply cities and towns with bread, let alone other supplies. In my country I just came back from the shop, very few people inside, all keeping distance
Blake Collins
posting shit here does more to form an opinion than being force fed gruel from a television

This. America wouldn't dare enforce martial law, which ironically might save us from stupid fuckers

ITT: Brainlets who don't understand collective action
Yes, you can always think of a reason why the quarantine shouldn't apply to YOU or an activity that's safe for YOU. But guess what, we don't have the resources to ajudicate every single scenario and calculate the precise risk. That means, yes, everyone should obey the quarantine even if it seems unfair to you or like there's something you could get away with. There probably is! It doesn't matter - because it needs to be fucking enforced, and we don't have the time to figure out ten billion person-specific exceptions.
OP your boomer parents should be clapped in irons and welded inside their home.

I think you're seriously underestimating how many American meals are served at Dunkin Donuts
Shouldn't the restuarant industry be seizing upon this to offer clean take out and drive thru options? Seems like a no brainer and take a few extra precaustions at the window
Charles Allen
With the info we have as long as you take precautions and limit the amount of exposure (one fucking shopping trip per few days, if that) you have to do what you have to do. But to get bored and try to visit every business still open everyday like this is a vacation... This is the herd being thinned out my friend, I'm sorry to say.
Nicholas Brooks
Thanks for that stinky-chink-think.

That' s just you burgers and leaves. Both my grandmothers stay at home and wait for their sons to bring them groceries. People older than 65 shop between 7 and 9 AM. Czech restaurants are closed to public, only takeaway is allowed. Wearing mask is mandatory.

Am I truly one of the only ones who doesn't care? Ofcourse I'd be sad if either of my parents would die, but they would die in the coming 10 years anyway. It is inevitable.
