The first thing they will teach is the grip of the entered apprentice, you press the thumb against the top of the first knuckle joint of the fellow mason. He will press his thumb against your knuckle.

This is called the boaz grip. It will be taught by the "Worshipful Master"

Worshipful Masters are basically the equivilent of a McDonalds Manager for freemason lodges. They are in charge of the local lodge.

Shibboleth is an important password because "this password will be demanded of you by one of the deacons, and should you be unable to give it it would cause confusion in the craft"

The first three degrees are literally fraternity-tier shit. Your grandfather probably didn't get past the third degree. Because most people don't. The fellow Mason at the same time presses his fingers against the corresponding part of the the first Mason's hand and the fingers of each are somewhat apart. This grip is also called the Strong Grip of the Master Mason or the Lion's Paw.

The Worshipful Master will say something like that

After this you are taught the five points of fellowship.
