There are 2 ways to do Gematria (well more than that but 2 main ones).
1) Alphabetic order: A=1,B=2...Z=26
2) Alphabetic order but you also add digits together to get a single digit: A=1,B=2...Z=8
Adding digits together in this way is called Numerology
So in the word Masonry
M is the 13th letter, 1+3 = 4
A is the 1st letter
S is the 19th letter, 1+9 = 10, 1+0 = 1
and so on
