diagnostic criteria is getting tested positive. clinical syndrome is just about the same as for any other cold/flu syndrome. Many cases in the hospital and of colleagues. No serious cases so far that I know personally. People are getting tested in excess in my opinion.

I personally call it emerging sniffles. We are currently witnessing something, which has happened many times before. Approximately 5-15 percent of all viral respiratory diseases are caused by Coronaviruses as far as we know. There are probably more with less or no symptoms we don’t know. All these were once zoonoses like SARS-Cov-2, but back then they weren’t noticed, because people were much younger and who wasn’t healthy to survive this would have already been dead. The issue is the demographic shift, meaning there is a much bigger group at risk. Usually old people are protected against the sniffles, because they at least had them as children, when they aren’t a big deal. Children are also the only natural reservoir of human Coronav. and afterwards you have partial immunity against them. Hence the usual sniffles aren’t a big deal for old people, but these new sniffles are. And children and younger people in general are just equally at risk as with any other sniffles they didn’t catch before.

I seen the video where Dr. Wolfgang Wodarg also puts forward the mass hysteria argument. Looking at the numbers it makes a lot of sense except for Italy. it is the way they classify the deaths in italy. if people are really old, about to die of one of their 5 other actual serious illness and get tested positive for corona, the virus will be the cause.
my other theory is that Italy is one of the places that most receive tourists on earth. too many people got infected way too rapidly and that's why they are getting peak numbers.

How do you know your personal experience isn't giving you a biased perspective on it? we are fine already. in 1-2 months (some) people will start noticing they have been fooled and deluded and then the situation will start to normalize.

im in one of the states that most got hit by it. my opinion has been formed by following this situation since the beginning, looking at hard data and medical knowledge about it and distancing myself from it. people all around say they have fear here in Germany as well as other health professionals in my native country.

Well not to get to much into the details, but you are talking about seasonal flu.
It isn’t comparable to pandemic flu, that untreated can really have significant lethality. Emerging Influenza A viruses are the most dangerous they can have a significantly high pathogenic/virulence and a fairly high transmissibility. That’s different for Coronaviruses, short answer is from what we know the transmissibility limits the pathogenic potential. It seems to be a function of were the major starting point of viral replication is. The more it’s in the upper respiratory system the more transmissible and the less pathogenic. While it’s the other way around, if it’s in the lower respiratory system. The reason for transmissibility differences is obvious. It’s more tricky with the pathogenic potential, but it likely has to do with the immune system being able to mount an adequate response, before it can reach the lung. And having to fight an uphill battle, if the infection already started in the lungs.
