Should lifting/Physical education be mandatory in order to fight the obesity epidemic?
Should lifting be mandatory?
No, some people's bodies are too weak or have already been damaged by prior sports experience and some people are simply too old and some otherwise would but are currently too sick.
I believe it's good for everyone but forcing everyone to do so won't give everyone a good character in the same way that mandatory schooling does not turn everyone into a good student.
Lastly, while the cultivation of physicality and strength is important spiritually. It is important to realise it is neither sufficient nor necessary and to chastise or diminish a man who displays great intellectual or moral discipline and courage is ill-advised and foolish. Anybody can, ultimately lift things up and put them down, not as many can do the same for the burdens of life, especially during extraordinary times.

About to undertake weightlifting soon.
Went down from 365lbs/160ish kg to 228lbs/103.5 kg, and I’m at 21 percent body fat, hoping to get down to 15 percent soon.
Thankfully since I’m 6’6”/1.99m, and only 21, I haven’t seen any loose skin yet, arm flab has been an issue but I’m sure putting on some muscle will quell that issue.
Any of you /fitpol/ anons have any advice for a beginner? Was considering going into stronglifts 5x5 program to start before moving into an intermediate program after half a year or more, thoughts?

been lifting a little and doing plenty of calisthentics for a year or so now, i feel skinny as fuck still but ive been making steady gains
even if im not as ripped as i could be, i went from looking like a total twig to something having some visible muscle i noticed my social skills and status improved immediatly following the gains

Nah. Tell people they have to do something, they'll get stubborn and resentful. Take any time, effort and money you would spend on getting such a law passed and just spend it on glamorizing physical fitness, while creating interesting social environments around physical fitness. You'll get much better returns on motivating people to work out.
Unironically, tik-tok videos of people doing gymnastics would do more to create a culture of fitness than a law ever could.
I think it's pretty weird for bored young guys to never get addicted to weight lifting for a few months but it's also weird to stay addicted to it for a bunch of years, after 3-6 months of serious lifting gains drastically slow down and getting them to go up *at all* after that point requires really pushing it and doing obsessive shit that stops being fun, or just steroids. I've had my fun with it, got physically strong and chemically balanced and got good at following instructions and making decisions on the fly (very important if you're doing heavy lifting) but now I don't get any joy from it and I want to spend my time and energy on other things. Also I have gotten a lot of minor injuries from it and one major injury that put me in the hospital, shit happens.

Granted, there would exist alternative events/exercises for those who are crippled or injured, but even they can get strong

That's the trick, if you get get shape and lift seriously for 1-2 years you will look and feel better than 95% of people and have a huge advantage. After that just do it semi-frequently to maintain gains.
If you want to go further or get there faster just use steroids. Steroids are probably one of the safest drugs if used conservatively, but you can get addicted to the gains if you don't have a strong mind (psychological dependence). I feel like most people that are obsessed with the gym have to have some level of autism to go in every day, unless it happens to be their job or something (like trainer, actor, model, etc.)

Calisthenics with proper form and isolation gives you the most athletic body.
