The EARN IT Bill (Kikes on Parade)

Have you heard of the EARN IT bill anons? Well, it is arguably the single most dystopian piece of legislation to ever hit the US Congress. Supported demonrats and republikikes alike, this bill will literally be the end of Yas Forums and the internet as we know it.

>Imagine an Internet where the law required every message sent to be read by government-approved scanning software. Companies that handle such messages wouldn’t be allowed to securely encrypt them, or they’d lose legal protections that allow them to operate.

>NCMEC believes online services should be made to screen their messages for material that NCMEC considers abusive; use screening technology approved by NCMEC and law enforcement; report what they find in the messages to NCMEC; and be held legally responsible for the content of messages sent by others.

Make no mistake, this bill is not about public wellbeing. It is obviously also not about protecting "missing and exploited children." As always, they are merely using the "won't somebody think of the children" bit as an excuse to push through absurdly draconian legislation.

This cannot be allowed to pass in this timeline.

>Trust me goyim, the government is benevolent
You can't both say the elites are child fuckers and assume they would enact a legal framework to protect children. Those two ideas are mutually exclusive.

Bump for great justice

its called encryption nigger, use it and government glowniggers cant read your shit
problem solved

I think you're missing the point, this legislation will eliminate the possibility of end-to-end encryption. From the article:

>“This bill says nothing about encryption,” co-sponsor Sen. Blumenthal said at today’s hearing. “Have you found a word in this bill about encryption?” he asked one witness.

>...You can’t have an Internet where messages are screened en masse, and also have end-to-end encryption any more than you can create backdoors that can only be used by the good guys. The two are mutually exclusive. Concepts like “client-side scanning” aren’t a clever route around this; such scanning is just another way to break end-to-end encryption. Either the message remains private to everyone but its recipients, or it’s available to others.

>blumenthal
Oi vey

Thanks Bill Gates.

The Bill Gates id2020.org shit is a whole other layer of dystopian bullshit on top of this. I'm just imagining a future where the government has the capability to pre-screen every single communication sent over the internet and brand us like cattle with Gatesian microchips. Dark shit.

The government says that they will use the data for the NCMEC, but once they have access to that data it's over. The notion that they would only use it for benevolent ends is naive and utterly absurd.

Obviously this thread will die with like 10 replies max because in [current year] Yas Forumsacks only reply to low-IQ bait and D&C bullshit posted by memeflags.

If it isn’t a
>well, Yas Forums?
>x isn’t white
>women are evil
>pointless discussion about religion with endless bait back and forth
thread then it is basically dead on arrival. Many such cases. Sad!

Bump

One final attempt at a bump. Are there any non faggot plebbitors left here?

The mods are literal gods though!

look all im saying is that before we panic why dont we try gassing a few kikes it worked in the past and can work now

no its not , im sending a message to someone else with encrypted text, wtf is the ISP gonna do block my packets ?
shit like this is just a reason to switch everything you use that interacts with the internet to end-to-end encrypted alternatives.

One more article about this:

>Section 230: The Most Important Law Protecting Freedom of Speech Online
>While everyone who has publicly condemned EARN IT has also stated a universal commitment to child safety online and in the real world, many say the bill’s far-reaching approach to content moderation could do more harm than good by essentially eliminating private conversations across the internet, particularly on social media platforms and messaging apps.
>To fully comprehend what EARN IT proposes, one needs to understand the importance of two bills passed in the ’90s. These laid the groundwork for how privacy and free speech are supposed to operate for U.S. citizens.
>First, Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act (CDA), passed in 1996, allows for the continued development of the internet as a free market and universal good for free speech. Section 230 says that online platforms or providers of interactive computer services mostly cannot be held responsible for the things their users say or do on their platforms. It uses the term “mostly” instead of “always” because platforms are still liable for exceptions that violate intellectual and federal criminal law. Essentially, this means if someone is defamed for being a fraud, that person can sue their defamer, but they cannot sue the platform for providing the space for free speech.
>Second, the Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act (CALEA), passed in 1994, requires telecom providers to make their networks “wiretappable” for law enforcement. However, it also ensured a “carve-out” for encrypted messages and information services where websites, email, social media, messaging apps and cloud storage fall out of CALEA’s jurisdiction.

Anyone else feel like it's harder to mobilize people in 2020 to oppose stuff like this than ever before?

Have you not learned from every time the religious right allies with the hard left. The 'good christian' morality is never enforced, but the resulting sledgehammer is always wielded against the political opponents of the hard left.

Oh you mean if I were to use something like PGP? Sure, obviously yes you could always do that. I don't have any communications I'm super keen on hiding to the point where I would go through the (admittedly minimal) trouble of doing that. This is about the government obtaining easy access to all communications sent through the internet. Websites -- like Yas Forums most likely -- that are unable to comply could be forced into ending their operations through lawsuits or whatever else.

I will fully admit that I do not have a total grasp over what the bill implies as I haven't read the full text and I'm not quite an expert on this subject. Nonetheless, I cannot help but balk at the notion that anyone genuinely believes the government would put something like this in place solely to fucking protect people. That's horseshit. Once a system like this is put in place, privacy on the internet is even more over than it is already.

No one here has read the bill.

Dear Friend,

There's no need to cause fights, simply burn the Bill of Rights.
Don't think it harsh or make drama, just ban the Supreme Court's decision in Marsh v. Alabama.
Content rating litigation nightmares aren't fair, share hell with "the modern public square".
Whether you object or not, constitutionally protected material should rot.
Bake the cake and like it too, civil rights are for niggers, not you.

End goy, you're A(((i)))DS.

Wow, how sad. You poor poor incels won’t be able to call others faggots or niggers anonymously, how will the internet recover from such a loss..
