The stockpiling of masks decreases the supply. There is no supply left. Civilians can remain healthy by isolating. Doctors and nurses need the masks because it's their job to help the critically ill. If they run out and are exposed they will go down increasing the chance of a shortage of medical workers which could lead to more deaths.
The level of misinformation and simple incorrect reporting is leading to the appearance of lies.

It's all a matter of supply, if schizos are going out and buying everything up there will be (as of now there is) a shortage. My squadron doctor has one mask. As in a singular mask, when it hits our location he'll get it for sure and he'll go down. He has no resupply. The odds of a young person getting a critical case is as good as Russian roulette. China lied about and controlled the story leaving it's borders very well: so are we and the Italians, it's hitting younger people as hard as it's hitting elderly, just at a slightly lower rate. All of this can be avoided if you stay indoors.
