The reason it was banned, was because of the ban on all flavored tobacco products. Snus has added flavor and got banned, everywhere, except Norway, Sweden and Denmark, I believe...
Norway is not in the EU but the EØS has us implement all trade related stuff

Buying and selling is illegal here, but you can bring for your own use from Sweden. Something like 3 towers (30 cans) or so. With a bunch of friends who don't use snus, could bring three to four times that, and feel a little cheater, but still not a criminal. :)
