I learned how to build antennas and set up funk connections, i learned how to calculate it, to even reach locations between mountains etc
Also we trained everyday, and i went from having a hard time breathing when walking up the stairs, to being able to run a marathon in 6 months.
Also its pretty based to be able to shoot the stg 77, i also shot heavy maschine guns, pistols, threw hand granades. It was pretty cool. Also you make connections to many new people.
It also shows you that you can endure more than you think.

The only valid form of conscription is found in Switzerland : you are in military service between the age of 18 and 35 IIRC, during which you'll spend a few weeks each year training, you usually go about it on the weekends or during vacation, and you can go to the shooting range to validate your training whenever you feel like. You keep your service rifle at home as well.
So basically, you live a normal life, study, work, have a woman, children, a house, but you are still training regularly and maintaining your skills.

Meanwhile in the rest of the world

I really enjoyed the army but I would have joined anyways without the coercion. The government should not have the power to force it's people into service.
