I volunteered to take a 10% pay cut today as my company is facing mass layoffs. Yesterday it was “everything is fine, we’ll figure it out” and today it was “time to furlough 25% of our workers”. How you guys holding up?

My mom started a homestead and wants me to come live on my own fifth wheel on her property

why not take the layoff and just milk it? they are going to keep extending benefits for literally years. god i wish i was laid off

Covid welfare isn't going to make you as much as a job will.

I got laid off from my shitty cook job yesterday. Unemployment barley covers mortgage. Very little emergency money. Pretty fucked lads lol

I work for the government so I have complete job security because they're the ones who print money

lolololololololololololololololololololololol

>I volunteered to take a 10% pay cut
Holy fuck, we're worse off than slaves.

I make $9 an hour working in a grocery store deli. I'm safe, but it's also ass.

Pennsylvania here. My company is only operational because of a loophole. I fully expect that this will be my last week of work for quite a while.

I'm salaried so I'm not sure how that's going to play out. Maybe some severance love?

I'm totally fucked. Employer was planning savings package due to it not being profitable enough for its parent company.

Hours are about to be reduced and subsidized by government but I know they will begin layoffs as soon as the subsidy related ban expires

Because I report to the C-level and a 10% pay cut still leaves me with more than most while making me look like a “company man”. Money is good to have in times like these.

06
true but you get free money and do whatever you want with your time

Same here lmao if you don't work for the fed gov then you done fucked up in Canada

25% is probably enough to file for some unemployment benefits to help a little. Luckily my work is necessary to the free world so I don't have to worry about layoffs. Schools and daycares are closed until May though which sucks with two kids under five.

America deserves to fucking die, shut the fuck up you and you're fucking Jewish job

Read OP wrong, 10% probably isn't enough but still worth checking into

My father was forced into early retirement by the Canadian government in the mid 1990s due to budget cuts.

Also recall that the government can legislate you a new contract with lower wages and order you back to work in Canada if it so chooses

Banking here.
We are cutting no jobs, no hours, no pay. We’re on a hiring freeze but internal hiring continues.
Gov says we’re essential and can’t shut down. Those who can work from home are going to start monday, the rest keep showing up.
Limit customer contact as much as possible. First it was no handshakes, then it was minimum 3 feet distance, now it’s we only see you through glass or on a special exception.
What I’m hearing from businesses is a whole bunch of pay cuts just came down the pipe, and layoffs at lower levels. Cuts are largest at the highest pay grades. Talking up to 50% if your title starts with C and ends with O.
Food service has been btfo all week. Entire workforces out the door.
Better than getting laid off.
When I tell you no one is hiring I say that from a knowing position. It’s not a hunch, it’s what I hear straight from the mouths of our partners. Only select business areas are still hiring and it’s what you expect i.e. gorcery stores. Everywhere else is bracing for recession. This is 9/11 tier economically speaking, maybe worse.

What do you do for work Op?

I work at the largest casino in my region and roughly 3,000 employees including some executives who have worked there since 1993 were term'd.

Because my position is required by gaming to maintain licenses I am considered essential staff and show up despite the casino being shut down completely, power off, restaurants closed, hotel shut down. I basically play on my phone all day.

I have received the mandated 2 weeks pay as a lump sum check and I show up to work as normal, even though I am not doing anything but collecting their money.

I'm also working 3 days a week, being paid for 5, with the other 2 days as PTO from the employees whose positions were eliminated in my department.

Do 10% less work. And rob the place blind.

I work at a nursing home. Nothing has really changed for me, holding up fine. A resident I liked passed away two days ago though which sucks, stroke.

>How you guys holding up?
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Sorry about that user, thanks for doing what you do.

Shitty cook job
Owns a home

youre a good guy

Interestingly I retired just last month in Florida. No shoes, no shirt, no problems.

If you don't live in a big city you can easily own a home on $15 to $20 an hour here.

Jesus Christ my mom made $10 in 1995

How do you live

We have unions retard. The gov ain't going to shut down critical function departments

Sucks to be a faggot like you, I'm getting offered overtime.

Just like to help people, thanks anons. Hope you both have a good one

Essential bro here too, I work for a a protein plant mainly turkey. We slice for some major names, and also supply meat to them. We have out remote server setup for RDP and have laptops going out the door. No one but employees are allowed in the doors without some sincere screening. Anyone that leaves the country gets auto-quarantined for 2 weeks automatically.

There’s something weird going on... I think the rotary club and chamber of commerce have “orchestrated” a shut down of everything. I’m guessing this is more of a jab at trump. Power grab. The businesses in my town that literally shut down at hyper speed are very connected to those two groups. It’s really looking like a huge larp.

I'm a manager of A service desk for a biotech marketing company. Security assured. Company is kissing my ass because I warned them about Corona and the need for work from home infrastructure. I should be pretty comfy working from home taking meetings and collecting Trumpbux on top.

I'm a CEO of a company that stocks toilet paper and n95 surgical masks. I made 99999999 dollars today. : D

trumpbux only if you make < 100k

Absolutely. This is the final gasp to end Trump. Spoiler: it’s not going to work.

county government IT here. I'm still working even though the courthouse is closed to the public. I may make some plans to come in every other day and work from home 1/2 time. Maybe come in on the weekends for maintenance when no one is there.

Banking here too. Feels comfy.
Fwiw, I think we're at 1929 levels of fucked. Remember when we were having troubles with the repo market last summer and the banks wanted more liquid? Well, that was before Corona-chan fucked the economy.
Great depression incoming. Then socialism, then really faggy tyranny.

>We have out remote server setup for RDP

Attached: 1368531216327.gif (240x228, 857.69K)

We have two stores, I never blinked at any of this bullshit. We’ve been busy. The manager at one store is pushing for shutdown and I’m ignoring them. I’m thinking about getting some temp workers and staying open later. I’ve gone around reading notes on doors of businesses that are closed. They’re definitely all similar, like they were distributed for a Single point source

I guess if I was IT I would have gotten it right.

Can people not Remote Desktop into a server that stores individual profile security attributes and applies them?

Rather than RDP into their own machines, or say they cannot access their own?

>volunteered
Woah you’re a fucking cuck.

WOAH. That’s a really fucking stupid thing to do.

If you were worth keeping around, theyd have kept you around for the same amount you were making. Now you just offered them extra money, what’re they going to do, say no? Really dumb.

Work in grocery. All my employees are banking fat OT paychecks right now. However we all probably have or will get the Corona

like how phat bro?

$700 a week bro it’s radical

I’m L3 IT at a health company and I still have to go in too. Busy as fuck now because people are still scrambling to work from home, but I’m hoping by next week I’ll be paid to do nothing. Being “essential staff” can really fucking suck and I’m an introvert who hates leaving the house as it is but hopefully it becomes a sweet deal.

what position

Banking here, been remote work only the past 2 weeks and making 1.5 normal salary atm. Control the central processing system so.. pretty safe job.

NEET for years
I'm thoroughly enjoying the show

I got laid off but the wife works for UCSF in the billing department so her job is super secure and they are letting her work from home. She makes enough money to support us both so I’m getting on unemployment until this blows over. Going to enjoy this nice long vacation, hopefully the trump dollars roll in soon so I can set myself up a comfy home gym.

Depending on what your doing, some processing require manual presence at a machine with tokens. if any firewall or alteration is made to try rdp, the other side will kill connections.

>consultant
>FEDERAL GOVERNMENT
I’m also a dollar ($1) under the trump bux requirements, own a shit ton on bitcoin and bought puts in January. IM CHILLIN.

I got hired by a fortune 500 company, I started last week and it has been based. I was handed a laptop and a HDMI dual monitor dock to work from home within 2 mins of being in the office the first day. The hiring process has taken a little over a month so I already had my foot in the door before the normies figured anything out. I'll have no shortage of hours in the foreseeable future as they are trying their hardest to maintain business as usual SOP.

I gotta say it is pretty comfy but I’m glad we’re going into hermit mode, here in NY, I am increasingly anxious about being out in the public.
Idk about that. Banks are pretty well capitalized and reserves are zero now. Hard parts now are that securities shit the bed and we’re experience a mild bank run at the moment. Cash out volume is probably 5 or so times higher than normal. There are some signs of weakness, they’re coming in a sooner than I thought. We’re already getting the calls about mortgage and commercial loan deferrals. Depositories are fucked for a while. Wholesale is probably fucked too. Just not sure it’s 1929 fucked.
Our forecasts are at -3% change for 1Q20 and 2Q20 GDP. At first we were telling our investment clients to batten down the hatches and stay long, it’s just volatility bro, but now I think we only tell retail that.

So what? You have time to do other shit. Time > money.

Unionized in transportation. Got our 1st positive Corona case this week (and another out 14 days for possible exposure). Even factoring slowdown due to economy, gonna be way short of manpower when it really hits. Will be able to write my own paycheck through summer if I don’t get it. Rather be laid off.

Professional Native American LARP agent.

lol bro exchange that bitcoin for xrp. The xrp is going to become the world reserve currency and bitcoin will be outlawed

Rotary and Chamber business types are, comparatively, high risk. I work with multiple chambers as part of my job and sit on the young professionals board for a chamber in a medium sized city. It’s lots of bullshit meetings and events like ribbon cutting for local retail and service jobs. Highly social activities for a mostly age 50 and up crowd.

Here’s the real reason chambers are panicking, people in the government like me told them to panic. Governors have declared states of emergency and set up bridge loan programs for businesses. That filters down to the local level. How does local government get that information out to business owners? By telling the chambers that it’s a big fucking deal. The chamber then starts mentioning it in all of their emails and cancelling events so people take notice.

Only if you have a job you enjoy and or make good money from; for the rest time is money.

We already operate on a bare bones crew in a company that prints money. Our business is sick people too so, my job is pretty safe. If I get fired though, my ulcer may heal up and I'd probably look 10 years younger over night.

>I volunteered to take a 10% pay cut

This post fits the flag.

Aviation industry here. I'm doing just fine.

Got a call this morning from a manager that the store I work in is closed and they don't know when it will reopen.
