You're exactly right - the death rate will increase because the media has convinced people that COVID-19 is everywhere and inescapable, when it's quite the opposite. Anyone who gets a little bit of a runny nose, a cough, or a sore throat is going to their local hospital/health center and wasting the resources needed for those who are actually infected with COVID-19. In the end, media fear-mongering and panic will be what causes more deaths, not the virus itself.
