Unless a "hoarder" got their mask from a hospital they didn't deprive any healthcare workers of their PPE. 3M didn't change allocation to shift supply away from hospitals to the retail chain of supply to stores like Lowe's and Home Depot. People simply went and bought out the usual supply that these hardware stores had in stock and on regular order from 3M. Hospitals don't buy from hardware stores.

The reason nobody can get PPE now is because China essentially nationalized all 3M factories in China, prohibited exporting to the US or any other nation and requisitioned all output for domestic use. 3M have very limited production in the US and can only output a % of what is needed today due to increased demand in the healthcare sector.

China is why healthcare workers in America can't get PPE. That and the fact that hospitals use respirators so infrequently that they didn't have any appropriate stock. Especially for a scenario where everyone should be using them.

If I don't wear the mask when I go out then I catch it and then either I need to goto the hospital or infect my elderly parents and then they have to go to the hospital and the older people I work with etc...
So instead of infecting and sending 4-8 more people to an overwhelmed hospital I'll just wear the mask. If a healthcare worker in the hospital gets sick for not having one then just the patients that were in the hospital suffer, no 4-8 new cases.

Honestly though don't really see a reason for hoarding them. A pack of 10 is more than enough. I got these P95s because they were actually cheaper than N95s due to normies not knowing they are basically the same thing. Anyways, the instructions say one mask is good for 40 hours of usage. So I have 400 hours of protection with 10 of them. A grocery trip takes what? 2 hours MAX. I've got enough food for 2 months. When I go out to shop again I'll be sure to get enough for at least 2 months again. We will have a vaccine next year.
So ten P95 masks is way more than enough.
