I was part of a mission that went to Ukraine (Lviv) and helped train their national army. Ukrainians are very nice people and very fun to be around. I remember doing shots of vodka with Ukrainian soldiers in the back of their jeeps (they're called a UAZ I think?) and eating salo by the fire. I spent 9 months over there any still have many Ukrainian friends that I keep in contact with.

One thing to note: theft is a big problem in Ukraine. Some Ukrainian soldiers would steal from us. One day we would wake up and all the diesel fuel from our trucks were missing. Ukrainians stole it. One day we were at a firing range and another Americans IOTV (body armor) was missing from his truck. Ukrainians stole it. One day an American instructor was looking for binoculars for the artillery simulation center, he checked the security camera footage and guess what--- Ukrainians stole it.

All and all I love Ukraine and most of its people but they are thieves. I could leave my equipment with the Lithuanians and they wouldn't steal it, but the Ukrainians on the other hand would steal it in a second.
