I've lived at my parents on an off between he ages of 18 and 28. Most of that time was spent at university. I always made sure I had at least 1-2 years of expenses fully saved (rent, food, uitility, phone/internet bills etc) before moving out on my own which happened twice. I had to move back in with them after a bad breakup (11-yr relationship) and health issues that made me go full NEET for a period of time.

For most single people that can be as little as 18-25k for 1 year of savings if you learn to live frugally. If you can't save that up in a year working the shittiest minimum wage job then I don't know what to tell you. I was fortunate to have family to stay with rent-free which definitely makes things much easier, but that could also be made up for by getting a better job or working harder.
