I agree with your hypothesis, you can't really tell who uses except for the junkies. However, after finding Christ, I realised that drugs do fuck with you spiritually. The high overwhelms your sences, mimiking a religous experience. It's hard to have a spiritual awakening when you have already been acustomed to shrooms. Drug use isn't bad in itself, but it often hides underlying problems.

I seized several times on the withdrawal. I’ve been through hell to say the least.
