There are some contracts where if you're hourly they can just send you home and not pay you for weeks until there is more work.

This is an old jew tactic and had it done to me when i worked in the restaurant industry. I wasn't able to collect unemployment until i got in the oil industry. I also quit due to safety reasons from a death trap factory and they showed up and denied it. Really pissed me off.
Air lock out was bypassed, e stops bypassed. Most of the physical safety guards removed. All that doesn't count. My last die i was pulled into the plastic grinder and almost killed. The operator of the stamping machine (plastic bowls and cake tins etc) had to jam a steel bar in to slow the brake drum on the grinding cylinder since they bypassed the brake the e stop activated. He hit the e stop and i was still being pulled in. Called OSHA and they never even went into the building. I had friends who still worked there who saw it and told me. Just went into the office and left 10 minutes later.
