Also never store your filters with your respirator, ever. Keep your respirator sealed in a bag, but the filters should never be stored with it... ever.
Filters are designed to prevent incoming contaminants from entering the respirator, but those same contaminants can leave the filters the same way they came in

The activated carbon isn't getting loaded when no air or chemicals are passing through it. They are gonna last a long time when you don't wear them around chemicals in the air whether you believe it or not. It's like a reverse osmosis filter lasts 5x longer than what the packaging says when you are filtering tap water because it isn't completely full of minerals and shit.
