when package arrives you go outside with protective gear on including respirator/goggles/gloves. you spray the box with disinfectant and let it soak in. if you have a place to set it for a few weeks do so. otherwise take a knife and carefully cut it open outside then place the box in a sealed bag and deposit in trash. carefully remove the contents (still outside) and spray down with bleach and wipe thoroughly the product. remove product box and repeat with the inside. then place in a sealed bag and store item wherever you need to for as long as you can before using it, preferably two weeks. if you have a sealed room or shop you can put it there and crank up the heat to help kill a potential virus. do this with mail as well. maybe the virus is not real, better safe than sorry. good excuse to wear your hazmat suit for the neighbors anyway

you don't understand the point. "flu" is used colloquially as a catch all term for winter illness. Corona is a generic winter illness that's typically called the flu. This year there's a media induced panic so people care about which specific virus is making them cough. Yes obviously there are influenza and corona viruses.

One explanation which has been made for this is that both Italy and China were preceded by a tuberculosis epidemic before this all started.
