I work in logistics and my boss said something he probably shouldn't have.
One of the employees asked him about obtaining hand sanitizer from work and my boss mentioned that he got in shit from the supplier for crediting some (bound for commercial/industrial clients) out of the inventory to use at work. Because apparently the producer has no intention of ramping up production. They've basically just diverted all of their production capacity to commercial/industrial packaging in order to meet the demand there (because those clients will pay more for it). My guess is they don't want to produce a bunch for retail and then suddenly have it all blow over and suddenly there's a bunch of hand sanitizer nobody wants to buy.

I work in a grocery store in the Bay Area. After the government announced a closing of sit-down establishments and a curfew (without warning management beforehand), the public flooded the store, buying up most of the essentials and waiting in line for hours. Next day, only a few odd cashiers, I guess a lot of them had stayed home to care for their kids (schools closed) or to avoid breathing the same air as hundreds of strangers. But by the end of the day, a lot of the essentials were back on the shelves because of our overtime and the number of customers dwindling back down to normal. Some people showed their true colors as the nasty individuals they were, but it was also an opportunity for the good people to shine.
Ironically, we seem to be among the minority who have “real” jobs since we have to continue working them while everyone else stays home.

When you hear about California, it's always socal. Sacramento caters to the southern part of the state and SF which isn't much different. Norcal is it's own thing and probably should be it's own state along with southern/eastern Oregon as they aren't well represented by the cosmopolitan populations of either. They're more spread out, don't have a lot of big population centers, aare mostly racially homogenous and are generally conservative unlike most of California and Oregon. Lots of tweakers and white trash though.
