Just went travelling over the last two days all over Ontario from Tobermory to Own Sound and Elmira.
EVERY SINGLE STORE is 100% out of anything that can be used as disinfectant. Rubbing alcohol, cleaning sprays, and wipes are all gone. There was one surplus store that had a few wipes at jacked up prices and like 5 shitty dust masks for $10, super price gouged, and they were almost sold out.
In St. Jacob's and near Kitchener-Waterloo region the stores were getting stocked up again when I went in so there's lots of wipes now and stuff available there. More of a shitlib feel and less people caring, idiots with their children out coughing around, and no masks.
Something else; everywhere (until I got to the city) I saw people with masks and gloves including cashiers. One Dollarama I went into, the entire store is disinfected every hour. Gyms and most stores are all shutdown. The St. Jacob's farmers market is shutdown. Covid-19 notices everywhere.
Another thing is in the cottages area I saw a whole family of about 10 niggers roaming around that I had a really bad feeling about. I think they might be looting the cottages of boomers that aren't around.
Another thing I saw in the countryside was two men on bikes with this very long bike trailer thing they made in tow behind them. It was about a coffin and a half in length, lots of supplies. Saw them around Elmira and heading out into the country.
I also saw a police man in Owen Sound enter into a dollarama with papers in hand probably to instruct them about what to do.
The overall feeling I got in the countryside was that of high paranoia, scarcity, and weird shit going on.
Electronics store. Most every store that sells electronics, computers, etc. is all closed down completely.

All I know of right know is that the entire CAF is focusing on maximizing readiness for domestic deployment, and minimizing risk of infection for its members. The idea is that you get a plate carrier that isn't 4-fucking-inches thick. Going prone is extremely important, arguably more-so than armor.
My setup has 0.8" ceramic plates and thinner AR mags that are mounted lower.
Of course, I probably won't even be wearing armor or a mask. I'll be sitting in my sandbagged windowsill with a suppressed AR10 and nightvision. I don't plan to leave my house

Not if you have to move through an area with more impediments than plush cushion couches or lazyboy furniture. Likewise the material that a JSLIST is made of is very different than a painter's raincoat and is non-reactive with most caustic substances (and most gases *are* caustic; not corrosive, caustic, as in pH >7), whereas most cheap synthetic rubbers that raincoats are made out of melt in the presence of even weak bases. I'm pretty sure CS is strong enough to melt those rags if even residue comes in direct contact. JSLIST are layered in materials *designed* to not be penetrable by both gases and have porosity *way* below the threshold for any virus/bacterium. Again, they are just poor and stupid, par for the course.

CIRAS is still the best Plate Carrier in the World. A Paraclete RAV is *really* the best, but good luck finding one, they might as well have ceased existing. If you are fat, lazy, and incapable of handling a real full body carrier, the old Weesatches and Waasatches are still fantastic but can be hard to find as well. Avoid Crye Crap; they still suck and are mallninja tier kit; stick to Eagle and Paraclete if you can find them. Blackhawks are 'okay', but often are uncomfortably stiff and thus bounce while you move (another BIG problem with Crye vests (and owned an Armour Chassis years back (still have it actually)). Again, actual tactical gear that *works* with your body and not against it, cost a shit ton and DO actually make a difference. I wore my CIRAS through 3 of my four deployments and wouldn't ever get into a firefight in another vest.

I inherited a few of those. Some youtuber did a test with some Polish ones from the 70s a few years back and found that they were still effective, but there's also confirmed asbestos in the filters. The rumor is that over time the filters degrade and can release the asbestos when you inhale. Don't know if it's true, but just something to think about.
Some people have advocated buying an adapter for standard NATO filters, but I mean GP-5's are so cheap you might as well just buy a newer mask for the price of the adapter.
