Food shortages when?

A clear sign of the happening escalating past the point of no return is when there’s no more food. Supply chains are stretched thin right now. With economy collapsing and mass layoffs, how long will it be until we see a literal famine in the US? When migrant workers who are crucial to agriculture start getting laid off or getting sick from the virus, how long til the US breadbasket buckles completely and we see a neo-Holodomor in America?

Also, it’s almost spring, what vegetables should I be planting in my garden?

Pic related is from my trip the grocery store this morning. Almost all nonperishables have been sold out for over a week now.

probably never.

Panic buyers got it out of their system, shoppers now have normal buying habits.

Retail anecdote.

This. I work at a grocery store and panic buying is over. Everything will slowly go back to normal within a week or two.

It depends I guess. I work in a warehouse and while we arent empty; we are low on select grocery and paper items. So if shit stops coming in, which it hasn't yet, itll only take two weeks of panic buying to clear us out

> Supply chains are stretched thin right now.
Are they, though? People aren't going to magically start gorging more food than before, the consumption levels have already normalized for the most part.

This

lol retard... as much as you faggots meme about how nothing is made in the USA, oil and food production are easy. TP is made stateside, too. there's a billion pounds of chicken in storage alone waiting for memorial day which is being released to beef up supply chains a bit. eating habits don't change, it's just late stage prep memers that are causing this temporary shortage. hand sanitizer, masks and other PPE are the only things actually in short supply, and new supplies and incoming overseas stocks (many made in China) are being diverted to the medical and healthcare industries. The fact that people think there will be food shortages or TP shortages when nothing has changed at all with regard to population/food consumption shows how room temp the IQ of americans is.

>Supply chains are stretched thin right now.

Everybody's making the same amount of food they've always made (if not more). There are no "food shortages". The problem is retards are buying 30 times more food than they would normally buy.

fpbp. Supply lines will be back to normal in a week.

this.

>no mcdonalds for a month
>millions of americans starve to death

carrots, spinach, radish, green beans. easy to grow in massive quantity. radish's mature in 20-30 days, everything else is about 60

This, everything kind of hinges on whether the virus has any tricks up its sleeve (reinfenction/after effects/etc)
Assuming everything is ok with that, the main hurdles now are doing that "flattening the curve" shit until treatment can be developed and pushed out (something like dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8115879/COVID-19-Australian-researchers-CURE-coronavirus.html ) and making sure people that are not getting paid (that work in service industries/airlines/etc) don't get the short end of the stick.

went to costco and they are managing things very well now. there is toilet paper there. just some select things out of stock but overall good stock and full shelves. Feel stupid for preping.
They have security hand out toilet paper and paper towel at entrance.

Don't know about masks, but hand sanitizer is so simple to make that NY state started producing it in prisons.

happening cancelled

It made a lot of people realize they have no food at home though. My father in law and his wife keep like nothing stored at home and have a highschool senior with them. She went to the store and only got 4 packages of grapes because they only eat organic or some gay shit. They're surprisingly libertarian rightist leaning people but still terminally normalfag and unprepared.

Food production, as far as I understand, isn't really affected as of now, especially in the US. It's just people going bonkers because panic; apparently it's a good idea to shut your brain off. And it depends on where you are right now. Here in Colorado, after the initial "shock", I expect things to quiet down in the next few days, however the next panic wave will come when they announce further lockdowns. Best time for food shopping is going to be in the next two days, either very early or very late (when all the boomers are asleep). With the coming winter storm, even more people might stay home.

Won't people eventually be satisfied with the amount of food they prepped?
Or is the vast majority of people still not even started prepping?
Assuming the former then I'd imagine people will stop panick buying in such great numbers and production will catch up to demand

there should be a non-meme general about this because it could be fucking important

Why would it go to warehouses? its getting shipped straight from the manufacturer. This happens all the time with things in high demand like you mentioned. Warehouses are for extra goods not in high demand.

how can people be libertarian and not keep at least a few months of food in reserve at all times? that makes no fucking sense whatsoever. sorry user that your wife's parents are fucktards.

Enjoy the 7" of assraping you'll get tomorrow fag.

they also are enforcing social distancing. very long line outside but the store not many people in it. The staff is also always sanitizing everything at all times and taking extra precautions.
They were out of the following hand sanitizer, isopropyl alcohol, lysol wipes, rice, chicken thighs, canned diced tomatoes, spaghetti noodles, soft soap and maybe a couple more things idk. All shelves were full of what they did have.

We've had a couple of months of wet weather, the snail supply is good, toped up with the odd cat...feeling good.

i live in a small southern town. Dollar General truck was just delivering shit yesterday. also a fucking Little Debbie supplier. i can't imagine we'd be too high of a priority for restocking if there was a supply problem. fuckin DG stockholders gonna be pullin it in

Attached: 2xpleuthujf11.png (500x490, 69.05K)

my local supermarket was about 70% empty which isn't that bad -- there was no toilet paper, but my cousin who lives in small town an hour drive away said there was plenty at his supermarket

these shortages are more in the dense urban areas perhaps

ITS OVER

>At Tesco, we have been doing everything we can to keep business as usual, but we now have to accept it is not business as usual. In the last two weeks, we have seen significant and prolonged increases in demand across all of our stores and this is leading to shortages in some products for some customers.

>Reacting to the latest government announcements, we have to plan on this situation being the new normal

Yeah, kind of a bummer. It was just getting nice enough for longer rides.

Never, there's a shit ton of back supply, the issue is the speed of deliveries.

Not to mention government supplies of food and MRE's, which if I remember correctly are around 3 months or so of food.

Panic buyers just need to be gassed.

it's because brainlets tend to live in cities, where they can get the most gibs by the nanny state. same retards that think they can save the environment whilst simultaneously ordering everything online and buying heavily packaged internationally shipped goods at their local ethnic BODEGA(TM).

I know we were laughing about it last night. I hope you guys are right about the supply chains and coronacha isn't the end of the world though. My sister in law has 4 white children to feed and I have one coming in september. Praying to Jesus rn fellas

You think they did, untill they start the next round. That's when the fighting starts.

Out of staters especially city folk are buying up all the supplies in rural areas.

how can that be true? are people suddenly going to be eating several times their normal allotment? does everyone suddenly have large walk-in freezers for all the FRESH goods that are being wiped out of stores?

sad. the snow season really starts picking up late this year, and suddenly the world stops.

that piccy is waitrose dumbass.
what's up can't buy your usual box of caviar and dom preignon ?

I was at store today. Everything is normal, just some shelves are a big bare with a few items there. I'm sure it's to keep some asshole from buying 20 bags of brown rice. I just buy 1-2 items of what I need and leave.

ok boomer

Just think, all this shit for a bunch of boomers. Our jobs, money, economy, freedom and rights, tossed out the window because God forbid a few boomers and people with preexisting health conditions croak.

coronachan is the real deal, and if lockdown happens there will be a supply chain crunch. but people aren't going to go hungry. farmers will still be producing the massive surplus of food (even more now) that we generate domestically. it's just that super specialty faggot items might not be as readily available if actual lockdowns happen. but there will be more than enough meat, rice, veggies, beans, and balanced calories to keep the US running indefinitely.

I just went grocery shopping at the supermarket today about an hour ago. Wasn't crowded whatsoever. The only thing that was out-of-place was the complete lack of all raw chicken in the meat department. But there was still plenty of beef and pork and the seafood section was fine. Other than that I assume the aisle with paper products and hand sanitizer was emptied, but whatever.

Also took a detour home to drive through mainstreet and downtown. I live in a college town that's usually bustling right now, but the entire place was dead quiet

What would stop the democrats from milking this indefinitely? They own all the News stations and websites. They could literally just keep spreading panic indefinitely if they wanted to.

nice trips. boomers are the iTs JuSt A fLu types, so how could I be a boomer? you're a retard though if you don't keep some long term food and water in your room/apartment/house for any type of abnormal scenario. if you're too poor or too stupid to do that, suffer the consequences.

they can try to milk (kek) the panic, but even the most retarded niggers will at some point look at all the food they're wasting when they simply can't eat all that they've purchased before it expires, or have no more room for storage.

>When migrant workers who are crucial to agriculture start getting sick from the virus
lmao they'll show up for work anyways. they don't give a fuck

I really want some brewskis. Think it's safe to make a run to the grocery store? I figure it would be more sanitary than a 7-Eleven. Or is it too risky to go anywhere?

Not entirely true. With farming it takes months to ramp up production. There is so many cows and chickens and you can either cull more for faster food or dont and force breed to have more in a couple months.

Right now fishing is probably the fastest method to inject food into the market.

panic buyers are holed up in their bunkers atm, so things should normalize within the next two weeks

They'd force shortages before that would happen.

twitter.com/FoodProfessor/status/1240301424283615232

Not quite. Next 2 weeks is gonna be crazy panic. Just stock up on the basics right now. Nothing crazy but enough to keep the wolves away from your door.

>but even the most retarded niggers will at some point
I think you might be underestimating them

Without panic buyers you'd do what?
Go shopping every week? Every few days? And gamble that you aren't exposing yourself to some coofer that has gassed the entire place an hour before you arrived?
Stocking up on shopping items isn't as much about a shortage as it is avoiding unnecessary risks, in my opinion.

Checked

The problem is what happens when supply of STOCKERS goes down.. if they die from Corona

Then what...

Ride the wave of the Kali Yuga
Let the Tribulation Roll
Its Ragnarok time, niggers!

what are you talking about, you stupid fucking leaf? the US keeps massive food amounts in reserve, especially because memorial day is coming up. those supplies are being gradually released now, as much as the supply chain can keep up. memorial day is more than two months away. there is no need for a massive growth in food production, unless we fail to seal the border and some of you fucking leafs blow southward.

food shortages start when the chickens stop laying eggs and the cows stop giving milk and the plants stop growing. the food has to go somewhere. theres nothing wrong with the actuals of the economy. our retarded leadership is the problem

Checked and shat

>queues forming outside supermarkets at 5am
>scuffles breaking out between demographics notorious for poor behaviour towards others
>police presence to control the crowds and enforce limits on what you can buy
>mob mentality develops as the strain of it all threatens to spill over into violence

I can definitely see it happening. The problem won't be lack of food per se; nanny state retards will chimp out over a 'two bags of pasta and a single pack of bog roll' rule.

was just in my local supermarket and it was probably half as busy as friday. still busier than normal but nothing crazy. they had TP but it was single rolls sold at limit 2. the rest of the store was stocked pretty well.

They start because groceries don't magically teleport into the markets and the trucks that bring them have to take the same roads that need to be policed for retards that think now is the best time to travel around the world.

Food shortages are the least of your worries. Your real worries are medication shortages. Precursor chemicals are almost solely produced in India and China.
What you're seeing in stores now is just a consequence of panic buyers. There's not a shortage of stock, there's just a temporary shortage of hands to transport and put it on the fucking shelves.

At the same time everything is crashing so prices should be low. Oil is worthless now. Everything is at minimum capacity, shipping companies can still work.
